Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Water resources analysis in Riegos del Alto Aragón (Huesca) in the first decade of the 21st Century(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2013-06-07) Sánchez-Chóliz, Julio; Sarasa, Cristina; Comunidad General de Riegos del Alto Aragón[EN] This paper aims to analyze the evolution in recent years of the water situation in Riegos del Alto Aragón (127.210 ha), a major irrigation scheme in north-eastern Spain. We study the evolution of water demand, irrigation efficiency, cropping patterns and crop profitability for the whole irrigationarea and for each of its 58 community members. We have obtained significant figures in the current levels of irrigation efficiency and they are of immediate application for the improvement of water management policy. On the one hand, the findings show the need to stop the current expansion of irrigation in this community, and on the other hand, they indicate that water scarcity is now provoking shocking changes in the cropping pattern removing towards less water demanding crops and with lower profitability, instead of the expected evolution (more weight of fruits, vegetables, corn,...)Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Municipal solid waste generation in mature destinations: An IPAT-type model for Mallorca(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2013-06-07) Arbulú, Italo; Lozano, Javier; Rey-Maquieira, Javier; TIRME, S.A.[EN] Several studies examined the relationship between environmental degradation and population growth. However, most of them don’t take into account the difference between local population and tourist arrivals. This paper contributes to the literature by separating these two groups within the framework of IPAT-based models to measure the impact of tourist arrivals in terms of municipal solid waste generation for Mallorca. The model leads to a stochastic differential equations system, which showed that this mature tourist destinations have higher population elasticity than industrial economies. Moreover, the model allowed us to measure the elasticity of substitution between lower-income and higher-income tourists.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Stated or inferred attribute non-attendance? A simulation approach(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2013-06-07) Mariel, Petr; Hoyos, David; Meyerhoff, Jürgen; Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, Alemania; Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea[EN] In the last few years, there has been a growing body of literature on how to detect and deal with the fact that some respondents seem to ignore one or more attributes in a discrete choice experiments. This paper aims to analyse the performance of two econometric approaches devoted to solve this problem: the stated attribute non-attendance approach and the inferred attribute non-attendance approach. These approaches are examined further by two common ways of collecting information on attribute non-attendance: serial and choice task non-attendance. The results of the simulation experiments show firstly, that choice task non-attendance of one attribute causes biases in the estimation of all other parameters; and, secondly, that only serial non-attendance can be inferred successfully. Initially there was a willingness to take on IAS 41, but the reality is that the Spanish accounting regulations do not apply the fair value of biological assets and agricultural products, although there are active markets that ensure the formation of prices, using the historical cost despite the existence of important debates about the goodness of fair value and the equity of the companies is different.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Which factors would affect crop insurance demand in Italy?(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2013-06-07) Capitanio, Fabian; Adinolfi, Felice; Di Pasquale, Jorgelina; Contò, Francesco[EN] This paper is aimed to highlight the factor which mainly affect the crop insurance demand in Italy. By using Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN), we carried out a logit model to implement the econometrics analysis for this scope. The higher concentration in high size farmers of the policy, stimulate a reflection on the public role in support of risk management in agriculture, reconsidering the “social” nature of this kind of support, at least if only direct versus crop insurance.
