    Aprendizaje Automático en la Identificación de Sistemas. Un Caso de Estudio en la Predicción de la Generación Eléctrica de un Parque Eólico

    [EN] One of the greatest technical challenges of today is obtaining predictive models for complex systems. In this paper we propose using data collected during a process to identify said process by means of automatic learning algorithms. Specifically, we describe the development of a project to determine the predictive model of a system based on supervised automatic learning algorithms. As an example, we use the problem of determining the energy generated in a wind farm. We do so by studying how the data collected are transformed, the search for the best algorithm, how to determine its goodness, and finally, the training and adjustment of the selected model. This study relies on the Python programming language, which has libraries that facilitate this type of project, and the Jupyter Notebook environment to carry out the project and disseminate the results.

    Metodología de Ajuste de un NMPC con Sistema de Inferencia Borrosa Takagi Sugeno y Conjuntos Borrosos Multidimensionales para Aplicaciones en Procesos Químicos no Lineales

    [EN] This paper presents a methodology for the tuning of the parameters of a nonlinear model based predictive controller (NMPC) based on an optimization technique, applied in the control of nonlinear chemical processes, with the purpose of facilitating the stage of determination of the adjustment values of this type of control strategies. The results allow to determine the performance of the NMPC tuned with the methodology proposed and validate the results with tunings developed through other strategies. The proposed methodology is applied to the control of the concentration of a reagent in a continuously stirred tank reactor (CSTR).

    Optimización de Parámetros Utilizando los Métodos de Monte Carlo y Algoritmos Evolutivos. Aplicación a un Controlador de Seguimiento de Trayectoria en Sistemas no Lineales

    [EN] In this work, a closed-loop control strategy is proposed. It allows tracking optimal profiles for a fed-batch bioprocess. The main advantage of this approach is that the control actions are computed from a linear equations system without linearizing the mathematical model, which allows working in any range. In addition, three techniques are developed to tune the controller. First, a completely probabilistic method, Monte Carlo. Second, a methodology based on Genetic Algorithms, an evolutionary optimization technique. Third, a Hybrid Algorithm, combining above algorithms advantages. Here, the objective function is to find the controller parameters that minimize the trajectory tracking total error. The controller performance is evaluated through simulations under normal operations conditions and parametric uncertainty, using the obtained controller parameters.

    Comparación entre Rectificador Monofásico con Conmutación Simétrica y Convertidor AC/AC para la Mejora del Factor de Potencia en Microcentrales Hidroeléctricas

    [EN] In a previous paper the authors compared the AC-AC converters, useful for the frequency regulation in hydroelectric microplants varying the power dissipated in ballasts loads, with the new proposal consisting in a bridge three-phase rectifier using diodes with a serial switch with the load that is switched with symmetric angle. The paper showed that the aforementioned rectifier accomplishes to improve the power factor at the generator output, except for low power consumed by users, near to its minimal value. A way to solve this problem consists in to use three bridge single-phase rectifier using diodes with a serial switch with the load that is switched with symmetric angle. As a consequence, the objective of this article is to carry out a comparison between the aforementioned single-phase rectifier and the AC-AC converter, regarding the power factor at the output of the electric generator of hydroelectric micro-plants that regulate frequency by means of the ballast-load method.

    Mejora de la Vida Útil en los Módulos de Electrónica de Potencia de un BLDCM Mediante la Optimización de un Control Difuso

    [EN] Power electronics elements lifetime in BLDCM drives can be affected due to power losses by conduction and switching during their operation. These losses normally aren´t consider in the design of controller, hence the controller lifetime is reduced or generate early failures. In this work, a fuzzy controller optimization through of PSO algorithm is proposed, this controller design considers the semiconductors temperature and the speed of BLDCM, it allows to increase power electronics lifetime at the same time that the speed desired is achieved. Finally, The Fuzzy-PSO controller results are compared with a PID conventional controller and Fuzzy conventional controller. These results are superior in comparison to conventional controllers since increase the power electronics lifetime and reach the speed set point. Additionally, the co-simulation as a methodology that allows to design, to implement and to validate prototypes in a reliable way. In this co-simulation the power electronics devices, the BLDCM and the controller proposed were designed in MultisimTM and LabVIEWTM from National Instrument (NI).

    Tolerancia al Fallo en Control Directo de Par con Vectores Virtuales de Tensión

    [EN] Reliability is considered a fundamental requirement of some variable-speed electric drives. Therefore, multiphase systems, which introduce a higher fault tolerance than conventional three-phase ones, turn out to be an interesting alternative for these applications. This high fault-tolerant capability is obtained thanks to the higher number of freedom degrees. This paper presents a direct torque control strategy based on virtual voltage vectors when an open phase fault appears in a six-phase induction machine. These virtual voltage vectors reduce the copper losses due to x-y current components. Experimental tests have been provided to validate the control strategy.

    Optimización de Funciones de Coste para Control Predictivo de Máquinas de Inducción Multifásicas

    [EN] Control of multi-phase induction machines is evolving with the incorporation of predictive controllers that operate directly with the power converter without modulators. It is realized in discrete-time through an exhaustive optimization of the inverter states. The optimization uses a cost function that penalizes deviations from the reference and other undesired factors. The cost function design has a big impact on closed loop performance. In this paper, a new strategy for cost function design is presented as a contribution. The strategy defines and a performance index relative to the observed behavior. The cost functions are derived from an optimization of said index. Experimental and simulation results are included for a five-phase induction machine with a comparison with previous methods in the context of predictive current control.

    Detección y Aislamiento de Fallas en Sistemas de Manufactura desde el Enfoque de Redes Complejas

    [EN] This paper presents a modeling methodology, detection and isolation of faults on the operative part of Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS) through a Complex Networks (CN) approach. As a result, an online fault detection and location scheme is proposed, based on the structural symmetry of interrelation and the non-distinguishable dynamic of the complex network model. Moreover, a second scheme is implemented, which is based on the detection of a fault through the observation of an abrupt change (produced by the fault) in the ith order derivatives of the state variables on Linear Time-Invariant (LTI) system’s networks. In this context, an online monitoring and signal acquisition system was developed to validate the schemas described above on a Canning Process Line (CPL). The theoretical and experimental results validate the schemas and confirm the existence of phenomena like self-regulation, symmetry and organization, in manufacturing systems.

    Apoyo a la toma de decisión en una red de evaporadores industriales

    [EN] Production and maintenance scheduling within an equipment network is a task whose complexity increases exponentially with the number of products, equipment and tasks. Finding optimal solutions (economic or resource efficient) becomes especially difficult for a human scheduler, even more when taking decisions in short time periods is required. This work addresses the problem of load allocation in real time and cleaning scheduling in a network of industrial evaporators via decision-support tools based on mixed-integer optimization with plant models. The proposed tools take into account the operators’ visualization preferences and they are integrated with the plant supervision system. Apart from providing recommendations for the optimal operation of the network, a semi-automatic model updating system based on historical operation data is included.

    Control PID multivariable de una caldera de vapor

    [EN] This document presents the proposal of the authors to the Control Engineering Benchmark 2016, organized by the Control Engineering Group of the Spanish Committee of Automatica. This is the winner design in the postgraduate category. The benchmark proposes the design of a control system for a boiler, that is modelled by a nonlinear multivariable model with three input, three output, and a measurable disturbance. The control system presented in this report is based on the design of a multivariable proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller by using convex optimization techniques. In addition, prefilters for the references and for the measurable disturbance have also been proposed. Finally, the performance of the designed control system is shown under the same scenarios to the ones considered in the benchmark.

    [EN] This paper presents a tutorial on analysis and design of linear parameter varying (LPV) systems using linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Several specifications, such as D-stability, guaranteed H∞ performance and guaranteed quadratic cost, as well as different control structures, such as state-feedback control, output-feedback control and observer-based control, are considered. A numerical example and a simplified model of a two-degrees-of-freedom helicopter (TRMS) are used to illustrate in a didactic manner the overall design methodology using LMIs.
