The development of multi-image photogrammetry (SfM+IM), combined with the evolution of 3D laser scanning technology, has marked a major advancement in the digitalization of heritage. Today, the integrated use of these technologies allows for the creation of hyper-realistic three-dimensional models in a simple, accurate, and cost-effective manner, while also producing visually compelling results. The objective of this research is present the methodology applied in the comprehensive digital graphic survey of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, located in Santa Eulalia del Campo (Teruel) along with the graphical results, which adhere to the required representation standards. The focus of this graphic survey is on the descriptive and typological analysis of the building, serving as a preliminary step before the intervention project.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Graphic Standards for the Design of Spaces in High-Speed Railway Stations(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2024-12-31) Font Torres, Juan Bautista; G-Valldecabres, Jorge; Cortés Meseguer, Luis; Departamento de Expresión Gráfica Arquitectónica; Departamento de Construcciones Arquitectónicas; Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería de Edificación; Centro de Investigación en Arquitectura, Patrimonio y Gestion para el desarrollo Sostenible; Centro de Investigación de Tecnología de la Edificación[EN] The liberalisation of passenger transport by rail on high-speed lines has produced a turning point in this mode of transport. The access of new private railway companies has led to an increase in the number of passengers using this means of transport. This situation has repercussions on the existing stations because the spaces initially designed are not capable of absorbing this new increase and the future demand. This problem can be seen in the València Joaquín Sorolla station. The station was conceived as a provisional station until the construction of the tunnel under the city, but the provisional nature of the station has been prolonged, creating the need to extend the station to absorb the demand for new passengers until the works are completed. However, this increase in demand has had a negative impact on the initial design of the station and on the planned extension, which has been overwhelmed by this growth. In this article, the aim is to graphically clarify the state of deterioration of quality and safety for users of this type of public service as a preliminary step for the study and definition of standards capable of guaranteeing the design in terms of safety and comfort to respond to the new demand.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , An insight into architectural surveying from secondary education: the neighbourhood i live in. The geometry of Cabanyal(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2024-12-31) Ontiveros Llorens, Irene[EN] The Cabanyal-Canyamelar district in Valencia, Spain, stands as a remarkable example of vernacular and modernist architecture, shaped by its historical relationship with the sea and fishing activities, earning recognition as a Site of Cultural Interest. Nevertheless, it has faced urban development threats and gentrification processes. This study explores the district as an educational laboratory, emphasising architectural graphic surveying as a pedagogical tool for Secondary Education. Through projects in Visual and Audiovisual Arts Education, including ceramic design and engraving techniques, students develop technical, creative, and critical skills while strengthening their cultural identity and connection to the environment. The article concludes that these practices enhance heritage awareness and advocates for their systematic inclusion in arts education to revitalise cultural contexts such as Cabanyal-Canyamelar.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , The Imagined City. Futurism, Utopia and Archigram(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2024-12-31) Lillo Giner, Santiago; Molina Siles, Pedro Javier; Departamento de Expresión Gráfica Arquitectónica; Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura; Instituto Universitario de Restauración del Patrimonio[EN] Starting from established fundamental principles such as rigidity, stability and durability, both Futurist and Archigram architecture claimed, founded on the economic, social and cultural changes of their time, new housing alternatives based on mobility, flexibility, adaptation and obsolescence. The main aim of this study is to reveal the links established between two conceptions of architecture which, despite having very different formal aspects, share a fundamental common characteristic: they both belong to an imagined, even dreamlike, world rather than a real world, and represent the ideal vision of their particular notion of the city of tomorrow. By contrasting the main manifestos of futurist architecture with the most representative projects imagined by the members of the Archigram group, this article aims to demonstrate to what extent the development of technology and mass culture, on the rise since the second half of the 20th century, would provide the Archigram movement with the necessary tools to give continuity to the futurist ideology using a contemporary, sensationalist and provocative language. Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Ricardo Roso; from academicism to modern heterodoxy(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2024-12-31) Giménez Ribera, Manuel; Perelló Roso, Ricardo; Sender Contell, Marina; Albelda Plá, Alberto; Departamento de Expresión Gráfica Arquitectónica; Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura; Departamento de Mecánica de los Medios Continuos y Teoría de Estructuras; Centro de Investigación en Arquitectura, Patrimonio y Gestion para el desarrollo Sostenible[EN] The aim of this article is to present both a graphic analysis and an approach to the work of the architect Ricardo Roso Olivé. In addition to saving a generation of architects from oblivion, the analysis of the compositional characteristics of Ricardo Roso s works is proposed, from a graphic point of view, comparing the intentions of his plans. Not to mention his volumetric proposals shadowing the echoes of rationalists who thundered far away and intersected with formal demands that became acceptable to the bourgeoisie. This paper works with the hypothesis of how the eclectic repertoire of formal solutions - common among young professionals far from the two metropolitan centres but close to tradition - Madrid and Barcelona - would be widely accepted in capital of Turia (Valencia) and the one who at an architectural level, raised the most emblematic highlights of our city. His artistic vision and personal commitment made him a significant figure in shaping the perception of architecture during the period of the Second Spanish Republic in the city. Through the analysis of his works, we can appreciate and understand the architectural and artistic currents that influenced him, his achievements and, in this way, and his contribution to Valencian architecture.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Two modern office buildings in Quito. Rafael Vélez Calisto: from craftsman to icon building(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2024-12-31) Villagómez Rodríguez, Juan Carlos; Mejía Vallejo, Clara Elena; Departamento de Proyectos Arquitectónicos; Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura; Grupo de Proyecto Arquitectura[EN] During the second half of the 20th century, the city of Quito underwent a rapid expansion process with urban and architectural consequences. As a result of this and the economic situation, there was an increase in the construction of high-rise office buildings in which new languages were explored. Leading local architects receive numerous commissions from institutions to design their headquarters. This article is a comparative analysis of two office buildings designed by Rafael Vélez Calisto in Quito. The first, Condominio Profesional, dates from 1973 and is one of his first buildings. The second, Banco Popular, was built in 1983 and is from a mature period. For this article, primary sources were consulted and compiled. The documents analyzed were preliminary sketches, project plans, perspectives, archive photographs, and publications in the local press.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Form, construction and restoration of timbervaults in the monastery of Santa María de Piedra, Nuévalos (Zaragoza)(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2024-12-31) Gómez Navarro, Belén; Estepa Rubio, Antonio[EN] This paper aims to document the constructive solution applied to cover the staircase space executed during the 16th-century expansion of the Monastery of Santa María de Piedra, through the execution of timbervaults. We present a study on the constructive development of the solution employed, as well as a formal analysis of the geometric model that had to be intervened upon to recover and rehabilitate the staircase space. Compared to stone vaults, the efficiency of timbervaults is evident in aspects such as economy of means, speed of execution, and lightness. All of this has led to this system being valued and implemented in various periods of construction history.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Application of GIS in the national topographical map from the Mid-20th Century: territorial relationships of the pre-industrial oil mills of Écija (Seville)(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2024-12-31) Moya Muñoz, Jorge[EN] The town of Écija in the province of Seville has been one of the foremost olive oil trading centres for centuries, a status that required the construction of a large number of oil mills. The continuity of olive production gave rise to a territorial organisation that lasted until a paradigm shift in rural areas in the mid-20th century. Recent research has addressed the relations between the mills and Écija s historical olive groves. However, the relations between the olive oil mills and all the other features of the town s agricultural fabric have yet to be examined. The aim of this article is to generate knowledge about the relations between the mills and the other agricultural infrastructures, which is essential to our understanding of the town s territorial configuration using GIS models. The National Topographical Map from the 1950s has provided the graphical basis for this study.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Processes for creating the HBIM model of a protected 20th century heritage building. The Royal Nautical Club of Donostia-San Sebastián(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2024-12-31) García Moreno, Josua; León Cascante, Iñigo; Sagarna Aranburu, Maialen[EN] The Royal Nautical Club building in San Sebastián is an icon of Spanish Modern Movement architecture dating to 1929, a privately owned protected heritage construction with two different uses and featuring both public and restricted areas. It has undergone several renovations throughout its history, both interior and exterior. Besides, the respective information is decentralised, requiring a significant time investment to gather and organise it. This makes it difficult to ascertain all past interventions and to use that information as a basis for a conservation plan. As a solution, application of the HBIM methodology is proposed. This article outlines the necessary processes for gathering and organising the available information, taking into account the requisites to develop an HBIM model that compiles all the graphic, documentary and maintenance data from the different historical construction phases of the building.
