Restauración de las cubiertas y fachadas laterales de la nave central(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2005-12-20) de Vega García, Esther[EN] The pathologies in the lead used in the roof of the central nave of this important church were a risk for the integrity of the frescos on the inside of the vaults. The article gives details of the assembly of a roof covering set up in order to carry out the works without endangering the monument, the replacement process of the existing leadwork, the reconstruction of the garrets and finally the restoration of the facades of the church.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Santa Cristina de Lena, un monumento enigmático del prerrománico asturiano: piedras, deterioro y sugerencias de conservación(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2005-12-20) Álvarez, Soledad; Esbert, Rosa Mª; Arias, Lorenzo; Sáenz, Raquel; Alonso, Francisco Javier; Ordaz, Jorge; Díaz-Pache, Francisco; Ruiz, Vicente G.; Calleja, Lope; Rodríguez, Ángel; Suárez, Luis M.[EN] The analysis about the building material and erection of Santa Cristina de Lena is not limited to the study of the stone and the deterioration of the monument with the intention of proposing solutions to conserve it but also contributes to throw light upon one of the most enigmatic monuments of Asturian Pre-Roman Art, differentiating the original elements from those added at a later date and explaining some of its stylistic peculiarities. [EN] The intervention mentioned in the article above was carried out at the same time as the consolidation and restoration of the magnificent sgraffito work decorating the vaults of the church described below. This operation constitutes an exemplary case for the study and material analysis of sgraffito plaster before restoration even in cases where the advanced state of deterioration and the many difficulties that arose made it seem impossible to rescue it. Furthermore, it increases our knowledge of both the materiality and the iconography of sgraffito plaster tradition in the Spanish Levant.materiality and the iconography of sgraffito plaster tradition in the Spanish Levant.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Obras de emergencia en la iglesia parroquial de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción de Traiguera(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2005-12-20) Hofbauerová, Vera[EN] Due to the alarming state of the vaults and the west wall of this church, the emergency works performed described here not only solved these problems but made it possible to discover their cause and find out more about the history and building of this church. The article addresses the details and the technical solutions put into practice to resolve the pathologies that threatened the survival of the building, paying special attention to the treatment given to the roof.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , La restauración de los Baños del Almirante de Valencia(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2005-12-20) Camps García, Concha; Esteban Chapapria, Julián[EN] The contradictory restoration works performed on the Baños del Almirante over many years have finally been corrected in recent times and the complex reality of the building has been restored by adopting crucial decisions, the criteria of which are described in this article. These last investigations into the Baños del Almirante have come up with unexpected findings, such as the origin of the baths in the Christian Middle Ages, and not in the Islamic period as it had hitherto been believed.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , La reconstrucción del puente de Mostar en Bosnia-Herzegovina(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2005-12-20) Romeo, Manfredo; Roig, Ferran[EN] Mostar Bridge is an unfortunate example of the macabre practice of destroying cultural heritage as a weapon against the ethnic enemy in the former Yugoslavia. The denouncement included in Loggia, Arquitectura & Restauración, no. 1 has the satisfaction of addressing the reconstruction of this symbol of World Heritage, which did not cease to be so even when its stones lay at the bottom of the Neretva River and nobody had any great hopes of reconstructing it.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , La restauración de la arquitectura: cómo y por qué(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2005-12-20) Torsello, Paolo B.[EN] With a magnificently clear mind, the author analyses the concept of restoration on the basis of his presuppositions, understanding architecture as a man-made artifice, containing memory and sustaining the passage of time. The restoration project implies choosing an act of will from among many possible options, seeking the survival, integrity and reuse of the work, a threesome of criteria in a committed balancing exercise that implies fulfilling all three components adequately.
