The works described in this article explain how it was possible to consolidate the damaged temple in record time, shortly before the very strong earthquake took place that would almost definitely have caused most of the roof to collapse, with the serious loss this would have involved for architectural heritage and Italian art history.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , La reconstrucción del pabellón de arte contemporáneo (Milán) de Ignazio Gardella(Universitat Politècnica de València, 1998-12-20) Gardella, Jacopo[EN] The problem of restoration, refurbishment, reutilization or -as is the case of our building- total rebuilding (a problem that for years only affected the architectures of the past), has recently started to affect the architectures of the present; specifically edifices of the modern movement, built before or after the Second World War. The main cause of this polemic was the shifting of the splendid Altarpiece by Damián Forment from the Main Chapel to Christ’s Chapel. The lucidity of his discourse stems from his rigorous research, his tireless educational endeavour as a lecturer on the history of architecture and architectural restoration, his direction of post-graduates and doctoral theses, his work as a creative architect, apart from his team work with the highly qualified lecturers in his department of the history of architecture and the post-graduate school and his presence in the executive committees of the numerous magazines he collaborates in.
