Of the numerous methodologies for estimating plant water requirements, the WUCOLS method for estimating landscape coefficients (KL) is most applicable. In this work, a methodology is developed that combines climatic information and the calculation of the relative water supply index (RWS), visualized using GIS maps, to evaluate irrigation management based on both the water needs of plant species and the efficiency of irrigation management. This methodology aims to support decision making by irrigation managers of large urban park irrigation systems related to irrigation management. The methodology has been applied for three years (2017-2019) to 18 ha of parks within the 1018 ha Valdebebas urbanization (Madrid) irrigated with subsurface drip irrigation, fully automated. The results show that the water requirements of the plant species are low, since they are ornamental species adapted to the semi-arid climate. Also, the water use efficiency in the parks, although they have similar water needs, is heterogeneous. The mapping provides a large amount of information, both on a spatial and temporal scale (weekly, monthly) that will help the staff in charge of irrigation management of urban parks to adjust irrigation management decisions in greater detail, as well as to detect and evaluate any possible anomalies that may occur during successive seasons.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Variabilidad del número de curva en función de las fuentes de datos en áreas cultivadas del sureste español(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2021-10-29) García-Guerrero, Juan Manuel; García, Juan Tomás; Alcaraz-Aparicio, Manuel; Castillo, Luis Gerardo; Altarejos-García, Luis; Carrillo, Jose María[EN] The evaluation of the infiltration is essential to estimate the surface runoff after a rainfall event. The curve number (CN) method is one of the most widely used to estimate the amount of runoff, in this work, the curve number has been calculated in two watersheds located in the Southeastern Spain, considering the land uses of the Corine Land Cover and SIOSE projects along different periods, and the soil classifications of the LUCDEME project and the MAGNA geological map. The results obtained using Geographical Information Systems show that, although the land uses change the CN, the highest variation is due to the consideration of the hydrological group of the soil as type B or C. Continuous simulation of soil moisture, in plots with specific crops and irrigation, over the study period has resulted in antecedent moisture values close to the CN II hypothesis during considerable periods of the year.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Diseño de una metodología para cálculo de energía hidrocinética en estuarios: ejemplo de aplicación con el software IBER(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2021-10-29) Amezqueta-García, Andone; Fernández-Pacheco, Víctor Manuel; Álvarez-Álvarez, Eduardo[EN] In the current context of growing energy demand, hydrokinetic energy caused by the interaction of tides and water flows in river estuaries is one of the sources with the greatest potential to be exploited. This article presents a methodology and a specific code that based on the results obtained by hydrodynamic simulation programmes allows to perform an evaluation of the hydrokinetic energy of an estuary, and the fraction that can be harnessed by vertical axis hydrokinetic turbines. The code has been integrated in IBER hydrodynamic simulation software, applying the methodology to the case of the Nalón river estuary (Asturias, Spain).Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Eficiencia en la reducción de materia orgánica petrolera combinando procesos de oxidación avanzada solar y el reactor biológico de una PTAR(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2021-10-29) Centeno-Bordones, Guillermo; Labrador, Henry; Lara, Guillermo; Jiménez, Ygmar[EN] A review of historical data of the effluent of PDVSA’s WWTP was carried out in its research and development subsidiary in the City of Los Teques, Miranda State, during the period 2003-2014. It was sampled for six weeks to calculate the efficiency in the removal of COD, BOD5 and SST. The efficiency for COD was 86.51% and 72.94% in BOD5. The proportion of biological sludge and sour water treated with advanced oxidation processes (POA), necessary for the reduction of COD and BOD5, was determined. The best result obtained in it was 222 mg /L of COD and BOD5 32.15 mg /L, satisfying the national standard for discharge into natural bodies of water.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Uso de zeolitas para el control de fuentes no puntuales de contaminación del agua: revisión(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2021-10-29) Gallo-González, Anna Karen; Vázquez-Rodríguez, Gabriela Alejandra; Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología, México[EN] In the Anthropocene, there are changes in the composition of freshwater due to pollution derived from point and non-point sources. In this work, zeolites, which are materials with the most diverse applications, are presented as an alternative to mitigate the changes mentioned above through the control of non-point sources, emphasizing those of urban origin. To do this, the most common strategies to face the problem represented by these sources of pollution, in particular green and blue infrastructure, are reviewed. Likewise, the characteristics and properties of natural, synthetic, and modified zeolites are detailed, as well as examples of their use in non-point water source control systems. The article concludes with some recommendations and perspectives.
