Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Propuesta de un modelo HBIM-SIG para el diagnóstico de patologías en el patrimonio arquitectónico(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2024-01-12) Hernández Peña, Liamnisbel; Merlo, Alessandro; Remond Noa, Ricardo; Arencibia Iglesias, Sergio Raymant; Ricardo Desdín, Sergio Edilio[EN] The conservation of architectural heritage is a priority and vital to preserve the heritage of our ancestors, it is essential to safeguard cultural identity, historical value and sustainable development, contributing to the welfare of communities and the enrichment of society as a whole. This research aims to propose an HBIM-GIS model to facilitate the diagnosis of pathologies in architectural heritage, as well as its documentation and efficient management, visualized in a single platform that links geographic data from GIS and building data using HBIM models, with proven advantages in quality, accuracy, time, and resource savings.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , La conservación del escenario del Teatro romano de Medellín (Badajoz, España)(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2024-01-12) Viola Nevado, Manuel[EN] This article describes the intervention carried out on the stage of the Roman Theatre of Medellín (Badajoz, Spain) from January to April 2011. This theatre, dating from the final years of the 1st century BC, was abandoned, plundered and occupied by various buildings throughout the Middle Ages. Archaeological excavations carried out from 2007 to 2010 brought to light the remains of the building. In the case of the stage, the original remains were used as the foundation on which to underpin the conservation, which combined an archaeological reading, anastylosis, consolidation and architectural contributions. The intervention made it possible to conserve the remains, deepen our knowledge about them, and recover entrances and routes that enable tourist visits and recovery for theatrical use (fig. 1). Since it opened to the public in 2013, it has received many visits, and is currently one of the venues of the International Classical Theatre Festival of Mérida.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Un frágil monumento. La restauración del complejo de la Tumba Brion: cuestiones y reflexiones(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2024-01-12) Bruschi, Greta[EN] This work aims to illustrate difficulties in conservation and intervention with regard to Carlo Scarpa s exposed reinforced concrete, which is characterised by unique formal features. The case study of the Brion Tomb (1969-78), designed by Carlo Scarpa (1906-1978), is exceptional for its monumental character, along with its designer s desire to envisage its ageing, but not its deterioration, over time. In this sense, the almost exclusive use of reinforced concrete for the building and the choice of certain experimental technical solutions place this architectural complex within the general context of problems related to the restoration of contemporary architecture, due to the theoretical and operational difficulties in defining interventions for its conservation. The restoration of this complex, which was completed in 2020, was an extraordinary opportunity to reflect on the methods and limits of conservation work, and to update technical capabilities to the current state of the art.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Las murallas históricas de la ciudad de Oviedo, España(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2024-01-12) Fernández Molina, José Ramón; Hevia González, José Ramón[EN] The intervention in the section of Oviedo city wall on calle Paraíso has led to its recovery and valorization, raising the profile of this Asset of Cultural Interest, which is key to understanding the formation and evolution of the city itself and was declared a historic-artistic monument by Decree on 3 June 1931. This walled city was chosen by Alfonso II in the 9th century as the seat for the court of the Asturian monarchy, as well as the departure point for the first pilgrimage to Compostela to see the newly discovered sepulchre of the Apostle Santiago. Alfonso X ordered the wall to be built at the height of the Reconquest. This article analyses the legal and heritage situation prior to intervention and contractual needs, as well as the progression of the construction of the wall, technical treatments, and project decision-making by the multidisciplinary team led by the architect José Ramón Fernández Molina.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Rehabilitación visible e invisible. Una interpretación heideggeriana(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2024-01-12) García Sánchez, Rafael[EN] The text proposes to point out two ways of understanding intervention in architectural heritage according to Heidegger s thought of the tool or the work of art. If architecture is considered a utensil, rehabilitation will consist of restoring it to its instrumental condition, but when tools work, they go unnoticed. Rehabilitating will consist of making the tool disappear again. A second form of rehabilitation would consist of intervening in anonymous heritage, in Heidegger s sense, elevating it to the status of a work of art, which is what makes architecture a place of maximum visibility and attention.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Preservar la memoria reutilizando espacios: la propuesta inglesa para la regeneración del Urban Space Management Team(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2024-01-12) Reynolds, Eric; Squassina, Angela[EN] Urban regeneration and industrial archaeology, dating back between the fourties and the fifties of the 20th century, has drawn attention to architecture, equipment and evidence of human manufacturing, widening the scope of Heritage Preservation in Europe and all over the world. Scholars detected an overall and quite similar development of the approach to industrial Heritage throughout time in the western world, from an early spontaneus interest, through an exploitation mostly based on economic purposes, towards a more recent preservative and inclusive attitude in regenerating buildings and sites, that has a strong support from the voluntary sector in UK. This paper reports the concept and main achievements of a team that, since the seventies, has being pioneering an interdisciplinary, cost-effective and yet preservative approach to abandoned production sites. Blending economic return and true attention to people and site specificity, innovation and campaigns for protection and proper reuse, this approach has been proving to be able to decline the different acceptations of sustainability and, as for conceptual and operational aspects, presents some interesting food for thought. [EN] The reuse of built heritage is one of the strategies implemented in response to some of the sustainability problems observed in the construction sector. Deconsecrated and abandoned religious buildings fall within this category. This text aims to study the solutions implemented in the city of Pavia for the readaptation of worship buildings in order to establish the correlation between valorization and reuse by analysing the periods of reuse, and the social and economic circumstances which brought them about. This serves to establish the new uses proposed and to analyse intervention strategies used depending on the profile of the property (public or private).
