Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Uso de nanomateriales para la conservación de la piedra del Teatro Romano de Cartagena(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2023-12-29) Navarro-Moreno, D.; Martínez-Arredondo, A.; García-Vera, V. E.; Lanzón, M.[EN] The Roman Theatre of Cartagena is an important example of the monumental architecture of Hispania. Various types of local stone were used in its construction, including a type of sandstone known as Tabaire. This paper describes the physical characteristics of Tabaire. We also identify its deterioration patterns and study its consolidation using lime nanoparticles and silicon dioxide (ethyl silicate). Initial analyses using the imaging techniques Optical Microscopy (OM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-Ray Tomography (CT) show that it is an extremely porous, soft stone. The effectiveness of the consolidating treatments was verified using non-destructive methods based on identifying dispersion and penetrability in the substrate (OM and SEM) and detecting colour variation (CIE-L*a*b*) or minimally destructive methods, such as the peeling test and Shore-D hardness, to determine their effect on the characteristics of the material.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Recuperación y musealización de trincheras de guerra(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2023-12-29) García Enguita, A.; Ibáñez González, J.; Sáez Abad, R.; Villalba Alegre, I.[EN] At a time of incresing popularity of the war heritage of the province of Teruel, the coordination between different territorial administrations and the establishment of common guidelines is more necessary than ever to lead interventions in this type of sites. The work carried out in the positions of Santa Bárbara and Loma de Casares in Celadas (Teruel) are an example of how the authors understand that the conservation and enhancement of the vestiges of the Spanish Civil War should be approached, in which difficulties such as access to the position, great extension, poor workmanship and an advanced state of abandonment and deterioration converge. This work also illustrates the integral and interdisciplinary character recommended in this type of projects, which addresses the historical documentation, the interpretation of the position and the delimitation of the intervention areas, the work of archaeological excavation, the adequacy of accesses, and even signaling, promotion and tourist diffusion.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Esgrafiados barrocos en la Barcelona medieval(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2023-12-29) Thió i Lluch, C.[EN] The sgraffito Barcelona of the eighteenth century is an artisan city that will soon become a preindustrial city. It is in this time of about 100 years when magnificent facades will be created dressed in beautiful decorations of Renaissance iconology that will end up generating a unique Catalan Baroque of French and Italian influences. Until the end of the eighteenth century, different decorations of sgraffito, painted or polychrome fresco or dry co-painted coexisted in Barcelona, both taped and with diamond tips, sgraffito ceilings, architectural scenography, bucolic scenes, upholstery, all generally made by using stencils (for systematization of the work) and polychrome, both fresh and dry, with mineral pigments.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Hacia una estratificación activa. La conservación del castillo de La Guardia (Jaén, España)(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2023-12-29) Palma Crespo, M.[EN] The article analyses the restoration conducted in the castle of the fortress of La Guardia. The original Moorish structure had suffered successive transformations in Christian and Renaissance times, in which it changed its use to residence. After a long process and after a period of disjointed interventions with different criteria, some of them unfinished, it was unused and with difficult access due to its maintenance conditions. The intervention strategy was to preserve the existing construction, valuing its complex stratification derived from the various mutations, additions and overlaps the castle has undergone over the years. At the same time, the spaces are arranged and the building recovers its accesses and itineraries, allowing its cultural use, compatible with tourism.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Nuevas aportaciones a la diferenciación geográfica de los zócalos pintados andalusíes(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2023-12-29) Alejandre Sánchez, F. J.; Núñez Guerrero, C.; Díaz Ramos, S.; Pérez-Malumbres Landa, A.[EN] Few examples remain of artistic Andalusi decoration in the form of painted plinths in residential settings. Several technological issues have arisen when noting potential connections in an attempt to contextualize the styles, geography and chronologies of these plinths. Using XRD, FTIR and stratigraphic analysis, and considering previous research, the study of execution techniques and materials observed in plinths in Baŷŷāna (Almería) has made it possible to establish parallels with decorated plinths from the Barrio de casas de la Alcazaba in Malaga. Based on these results, interesting conclusions can be drawn regarding production techniques which are in keeping with the survival of certain execution procedures of Roman origin for renderings. Furthermore, the existence of a production nucleus grouping the examples from Almería and Malaga is proposed within a technical context which would set them apart.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , El Generalife. Primeros trabajos de gestión y conservación(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2023-12-29) Ordieres Díez, I.; Lara García, J.[EN] After the restitution of the Generalife to the Spanish State in 1921, Benigno de la Vega Inclán (1858-1942) the Marquis de la Vega-Inclán organized a board of trustees independent from that of the Alhambra to open the Nasrid complex to future visitors. Eladio Laredo and Carranza (1864-1941) became the architect in charge of the first surveys, the study of access, irrigation, and recovery of the deteriorated areas until 1925, when the architect Leopoldo Torres Balbás took over the task.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Giovanni Carbonara arquitecto, historiador, teórico(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2023-12-29) Esposito, D.[EN] The paper aims to remember the scientific and human contributions of Giovanni Carbonara. He was a professor emeritus of Restoration, and the director of the School of Specialisation in Restoration of Monuments (now, Architectural and Landscape Heritage), in which he lavished his high intellectual and human value with courage and respect. His students have taken up his teachings in various activities, from teaching to research, and professional works. Since the Seventies of the 20th Century, his research has touched many fields of conservation, analytical study, protection, education, and management of cultural heritage. He was an intellectual also involved in various institutional fields for conservation. He was concerned with looking at the teachings of the past with an eye focused on the updates and new developments in the restoration s thought. He was a promoter of the critical-conservative line of restoration.
