- PublicationTrasplante alogénico de metanefros: una solución para las enfermedades renales crónicas(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2014-09-30T11:02:36Z) Vicente Ferrer, Silvia; Marco Jiménez, Francisco; Departamento de Ciencia Animal; Instituto Universitario de Investigación en TecnologÃa Centrada en el Ser Humano; Instituto Universitario de Ciencia y TecnologÃa Animal; Escuela Técnica Superior de IngenierÃa Agronómica y del Medio Natural[EN] The number of organ trasplants is determined by the availability of these, and specially the kidney is one of the most demanded. Nowadays, despite the effort to raise the number of kidney donors, as a consequence of demographic changes and the increasing incidence of some chronic kidney diseases, the demand is growing, increasing the wait list of people awaiting a kidney. A novel alternative that is being studied is the use of embrionic kidneys developed in vivo. Furthermore, the development of cryobiology, especially vitrification, opens the possibility of long-term organ storage. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect that two vitrification means, VM3 and M22, have upon the in vivo development in metanephros obtained from 16 day embryos. For this study task, the metanephros of the 16 day embryos from rabbits were surgically extracted and vitrified using VM3 and M22. After that, the transferences of the vitrified metanephros were performed, and after three weeks of growth in the recipients, the extraction was performed to evaluate their morphology and histology. The histologic study revealed the presence of nephrons in all of the obtained metanephros. This study allows to conclude that both vitrification means allow the in vivo development of 16 ay metanephros
