[EN] The main objective of this project is the optimization of phosphorus removal from wastewater by chemical processes, using wastewater from Castletroy Wastewater Treatment Plant. In order to obtain this objective, a number of secondary objectives were established:
- Raise the issue of the presence of phosphorus in sewage treatment effluents.
- Obtain the average amounts of phosphorus in the flows into and out of Castletroy Wastewater Treatment Plant.
- Studying the technologies used in Castletroy Wastewater Treatment Plant.
- Study of the variation of phosphorus by modifying the conditions of pH, type and concentration of coagulant.
- Economic evaluation of the different possibilities taking into account the cost of the products used for treatment.
- Choosing the best alternative of coagulant based on the results of the economic evaluation and aforementioned parameters. To do this, water from Castletroy Wastewater Treatment Plant was analyzed, where waters undergo both a chemical and biological nutrient removal process.
