Nuevos datos sobre la historia constructiva del puente mayor de Aranda de Duero (Burgos)

[EN] The Main Bridge of Aranda de Duero stands as one of the most remarkable examples of medieval civil engineering in the province of Burgos. Its strategic location over the Duero River and its role as a key communication route along the Madrid France axis made it an essential element in the urban and commercial development of the town. The recent discovery of a drawing by Juan de Naveda, dated 1575, intended for carrying out important repairs on this structure, along with the reform, enlargement, and widening projects undertaken in the second half of the 19th century, provide new information about its construction history, outlining the process through which this bridge evolved to attain its present form.

[ES] El puente mayor de Aranda de Duero constituye una de las obras de ingeniería civil de origen medieval más notables de la provincia de Burgos. Su emplazamiento estratégico sobre el río Duero y su efecto canalizador de las comunicaciones en el eje Madrid-Francia lo convirtió en un elemento esencial para el desarrollo urbano y comercial de esta villa. El reciente hallazgo de un dibujo de Juan de Naveda fechado en 1575 destinado a ejecutar importantes reparos en esta construcción y de los proyectos de reforma, ampliación y ensanche ejecutados en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, permiten aportar nuevos datos sobre su historia constructiva, definiendo el proceso experimentado por este puente hasta conformar su imagen actual.
