| dc.description.abstract | [EN] Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) Fuel cells are presented as a powerful alternative solution for clean energy production in mobile applications. But since, they are not 100% efficient about 50% of the converted energy is rejected as heat. However, high temperatures prevent the suitable humidity in the membrane, slowing the fuel cell operation down. Therefore, a thermal management is required to safeguard the fuel cell operation. In highly transient driving conditions, as in transport applications, fuel cells risk even more its efficient performance. Therefore, a thermal management of a PEM-FC is carried out to identify the transient behavior of the thermal cycle in a conceptual fuel cell vehicle (FCV) subject to changes in power load, ambient temperature, and cooling load ¿� ¿� , (¿� )¿� . The methodology used is computer modeling and numerical simulation using Matlab/Simulink¿ software. The results reveal that ambient temperature plays an important role in the system. Also in order to increase the power output in a fuel cell vehicle, the cooling system has to be carefully characterized. For this reason, a parametric study would be an effective way to validate the physical parameters of the cooling system, which outline the guidelines to improve it. | en_EN |
