Quien mira en su interior, despierta: Morning Cowboy

Abstract

[EN] Morning Cowboy (2017) is a unique short animated film by Fernando and Elena Pomares, produced by Travelogue Studio, with the collaboration of Movistar +, Generalitat de Catalunya and ICAA. After passing through the highly selective 67th Berlin Film Festival in the Generation section and at the prestigious Lucania Festival, and having won significant awards, such as the Best National Short Film Award in 3D Wire (Segovia), Morning Cowboy has been one of the most emblematic titles of the Spanish short animation film in 2017, and it will surely remain that way in 2018. In its intense 15-minute length, which at times evokes John Ford’s films but also Italian Cinema, Morning Cowboy takes us to the Western world, a cinematographic genre associated with the romantic and heroic one, but also with the evasion and the fantasy, like the animation itself, that are linked metaphorically in the world of the dreams of its protagonist.

[ES] Morning Cowboy (2017) es un singular cortometraje de animación, dirigido por Fernando y Elena Pomares, y producido por Travelogue Studio, con la colaboración de Movistar+ y Generalitat de Catalunya. Después de su pase por el muy selectivo 67º Festival de Cine de Berlín en la sección Generation, y en el prestigioso Festival de Lucania, y de haber obtenido significativos galardones, como el premio al Mejor Cortometraje Nacional en 3D Wire (Segovia), Morning Cowboy ha sido uno de los títulos más emblemáticos del cortometraje español de animación en 2017, y seguramente seguirá siendo así en 2018. En sus intensos 15 minutos de duración, que por momentos evocan al cine de John Ford pero también al cine italiano, Morning Cowboy nos lleva al mundo del Western, un género cinematográfico que se asocia con lo romántico y heroico, pero también con la evasión y la fantasía, como la animación misma, que se hermanan metafóricamente en el mundo de los sueños de su protagonista.
