PROPUESTA DE INTERVENCIÓN VALORADA: SARCÓFAGO DEL PANTEÓN DOTRÉS, CEMENTERIO GENERAL DE VALENCIA

Abstract

El arte funerario que se recoge en los cementerios constituye un tipo especial de manifestación artística que va más allá de la expresión habitual; evocan memoria, un recuerdo íntimo ligado a personas con nombres, apellidos y una historia, y cuyos restos reposan rodeados de un arte que se debe reconocer y mantener. A menudo por considerarse un tema tabú, por desconocimiento de su relevancia, o por simplemente imposibilidad económica, la conservación y sobretodo restauración de estos bienes que forman parte de nuestra cultura, se ha visto comprometida y relegada a un segundo plano. El propósito de este trabajo es poner en valor esta importancia, aplicando la información y referentes encontrados a la posible restauración del sarcófago de uno de los panteones más significativos del Cementerio General de Valencia: el correspondiente a la familia Dotrés. Este estudio abordará cuestiones como la relevancia de la familia en la época, el estado de conservación del panteón, o la propuesta de intervención del sarcófago que allí se alberga, poniendo en evidencia la necesidad de una gestión que mejore la situación de estas obras de arte.

The funerary art that is collected in the cemeteries constitutes a special type of artistic manifestation that goes beyond the usual expression: they evoke memory, an intimate memory linked to people with names, surnames and a story, and whose remains rest surrounded by an art that must be recognized and maintained.

Often because it's considered a taboo subject, to ignorance of its relevance, or maybe because of simply economic impossibility, the conservation and, above all, the restoration of these goods that are part of our culture, has been compromised and relegated to the background. The purpose of this work is to highlight this importance, applying the information and references found to the possible restoration of the sarcophagus of one of the most significant mausoleum of the General Cemetery of Valencia: that corresponding to the Dotrés family.

These studies will remark issues such as the relevance of the family at the time, the state of conservation of the pantheon, or the proposed intervention of the sarcophagus that it houses, highlighting the need for management to improve the situation of this type of art.
