JOYERIA Y TECNOLOGÍA: CONSTRUCTORAS DE IDENTIDAD

Abstract

És necessari concebre ara mateix la tecnologia com a màquina creadora d'identitats. Nosaltres som en la mesura que ensenyem. L'avenç tecnològic dels últims 20 anys ha potenciat la nostra pròpia expansió més enllà del cos i comença un viatge en el qual preval el que volem ser per sobre del que som. Per tant, aquesta connexió amb tot i tothom, provocada per la tecnologia, ens defineix i conforma de la mateixa manera que ho fa la vestimenta, però amb més abast. D'aquesta forma entenem la tecnologia com una extensió del nostre propi cos. D'altra banda, m'interessa la joieria no només com a peça artística i amb potencial conceptual, sinó que m'interessa com a objecte absorbidor de significat. La joieria com a peça funcional que portem posada, però que sobretot parla de nosaltres. Vull aprofitar-me d'aquesta relació que crea la joia amb l'individu sense deixar de ser un objecte físic amb caràcter artístic per conectar-la amb la tecnologia, que serà el pilar conceptual del treball. La joieria és capaç d'establir vincles amb la persona, de la mateixa manera que a nosaltres ens es fàcil empatitzar amb la tecnologia. Les peces de joieria estaran modelades en cera i foses en plata o llautó (a una foneria externa a la universitat), tot i que la idea és incorporar altres materials propis de la tecnologia però per a res lligats a la joieria, convertint així el material en llenguatge i afavorint la comprensió del concepte. Els següents dibuixos no són prototips ni dissenys definitius, només intenten mostrar la línia estètica, les textures i el llenguatge que intentaré utilitzar.

In this moment it's necessary conceive the tecnology as a identity creator machine. We are as far as we show. The tecnological advence of the recent years, has been to accentuate our own expansion beyond the body and beggins a trip which prevails we want to be above beyond we are. Thus, this connection wtih everything and everybody caused by the tecnology, defines and create, the same way as the clothes, but more powerful. In this way, we understand the tecnology as an extension of our own body. On the other hand, I'm interested in jewellery not only as artwork with conceptual potencial or else interest me as an mean absorver object. Jewellery as a funcional piece worn, but mostly talk about us. I want to take me from this relation that creates jewel with the person while still being a object with artistic character to connect with tecnology, to be the mainstay of the conceptual work. Jewellery is able to establish links with the person in the same way that we can easily empathize with tecnology. The jewellery pieces are modeled in wax and cast in silver or brass, but the idea is to incorporate other materials own tecnology, making the material in language for promoting understanding the concept. The following drawings are not final designs or prototypes, only try to show the esthetic line, textures and lenguage.
