De nouvelles perspectives pour les forêts méditerranéennes

Abstract

[FR] Alors que les pays méditerranéens se sont unis en 2013 afin de définir un Cadre Stratégique pour les Forêts Méditerranéennes précisant les actions prioritaires à y conduire face aux défis des changements globaux, les opportunités offertes en termes de coordination et de coopération régionales par des institutions internationales telles que l¿Union pour la Méditerranée et par le Centre pour l¿Intégration en Méditerranée ainsi que les instruments proposés par les principaux bailleurs de fonds sont autant de leviers pour la mise en œuvre des recommandations du cadre stratégique. Même si des marges de progrès existent via une approche davantage intégrée et participative au sein des pays, aujourd¿hui, tous les ingrédients semblent réunis afin de renforcer la coopération régionale et la capacité des pays à mettre en œuvre des projets d¿envergure au bénéfice des forêts méditerranéennes.

[EN] Whereas in 2013 the countries of the Mediterranean Rim met to draw up a Framework Strategy for Mediterranean Forests laying down the priorities for action in the face of global changes, there are opportunities in terms of coordination and regional cooperation offered by such international organisations as the Union for the Mediterranean and the Centre for Mediterranean Integration, as well as by the instruments proposed by the main funding bodies, which can provide so much thrust for the implementation of the recommendations contained in the Framework Strategy. Though there is still room for progress via a more integrated, more participative approach within each country, at present all the constituents appear to be present that are needed to reinforce regional cooperation and enhance the capacity of each country to carry out far-reaching projects for the benefit of Mediterranean forests and woodlands.
