Estudio de la velocidad de digitación en la trompeta: nuevo enfoque

Abstract

[ES] Este estudio experimental analiza si se obtiene una mejoría en cuanto al dominio de la digitación cuando los estudios técnicos de digitación en la trompeta son practicados también con la mano izquierda, o sea, cambiando la mano habitual que realiza las posiciones de digitación con los pistones del instrumento. Para ello, se ha contado con trece participantes trompetistas que han realizado una tarea de interpretación de dos ejercicios programados, en un principio a una velocidad cómoda, y después incrementándola, hasta el límite de sus posibilidades. La tarea tenía tres partes: En la primera parte, se interpretaba solamente el primer ejercicio sólo con la mano derecha, realizando la tarea descrita dos veces. En la segunda parte, se realizaba solamente el segundo ejercicio, realizando la tarea primeramente con la mano derecha; después con la mano izquierda, y finalmente se volvía a hacer con la mano derecha. La tercera parte consistía en realizar la tarea solamente en el primer ejercicio y sólo con la mano derecha, empezando a una velocidad ya alta. En cada una de las interpretaciones se ha valorado tanto la facilidad propioceptiva de los participantes, como la calidad percibida externamente, calificándose en una tabla de 1 a 7. Los resultados obtenidos demuestran que hay una mejora altamente significativa después de la práctica con la mano izquierda. Un test t de muestras relacionadas indica que la calidad de ejecución no mejora cuando se trabaja con la mano derecha solamente (parte 1) (p=0,44) y sin embargo hay una influencia muy significativa de trabajar con la mano izquierda en la calidad de ejecución en la la parte 2 (t=6,629; gl=54; p<0,001) e incluso en la parte 3 (t=5,896; gl=54; p<0,001), teniendo en cuenta que el ejercicio trabajado con la mano izquierda era diferente al que se ejecutaba en la parte 3. Los participantes indican en general que sienten mayor facilidad al interpretar después de haber ejercitado la mano izquierda. Los resultados estadísticos indican sin embargo que los participantes evalúan como más fácil la segunda vez que ejecutan un ejercicio, ya sea que hayan ejercitado la mano izquierda o solamente la derecha. Concluimos que hay una influencia positiva en la ejecución con la mano derecha tras ejercitar la mano izquierda.

[EN] This experimental study analyses whether the performance and fingering in the trumpet when the technical studies are also performed with the left hand, i.e., when the performer changes the usual hands that performs the fingering on the valves of the trumpet. Thirteen trumpet students executed the technical exercises, starting at a confortable tempo, and increasing the tempo until the limit of the performer was reached. The experiment was divided into three parts. In the first part, performers executed the first exercise only with the right hand, repeating the series two times. In the second part, the second exercise was performed using first the right hand, then the left hand at a lower tempo, and then again on the right hand. Finally, in the third part, performers executed again some samples of the first exercise at a high tempo. For each exercise and each tempo, each performer rated from 1 to 7 the perceived ease of performance (proprioceptive ease), and the external evaluator (professor of trumpet and author) rated from 1 to 7 the quality of the performance. The session was video-recorded and the ratings were adjusted later. The results show that there is a highly significant improvement after exercising the left hand. A paired samples t-test of shows that performance quality does not improve when only the right hand is used (part 1) (p=0,44), but in contrast, there is a higly significative improvement on samples the performance after exercising the left hand in part 2 (t = 6,629, df = 54, p <0,001) and even in part 3 (t = 5.896, gl = 54, p <0.001), when the exercise used for the left hand is different than the exercise used for part 3. The participants indicate that they feel more confortable performing after they exercised the left hand. The statistical results show that the simple repetition of the exercise leads to more perceived ease, regardless of exercising the left hand or only the right hand.
