Service Managament in Open Environments

Abstract

Currently, in open environments the components are reusable and loosely coupled, enter and leave organizations, but even the most reusable service is not useful if it cannot be found by those responsible for creating potential consumers. For this reason, in an architecture system there is a need to provide a discovery mechanism, such as a service registry or directory. It is necessary to develop intelligent service coordination techniques/methods within open, decentralized multi-agent systems: intelligent service location and composition (directory services, syntactic and semantic comparison techniques for services) and generation and adaptation of composed services. In this paper a service facilitator (SF) is proposed to deal with these objectives. SF is a redefinition of the FIPA Directory Facilitator that is able to deal with services in a more elaborated way.
