[EN] The project team existing of Sascha Becker, Yilmaz Bingöl, Germán Merino and Fernando Ruiz
worked as a part of the European Project Semester for the Ecole Nationale d'Ingénieurs de Tarbes,
which is a school for technical engineers.
The European Project Semester (EPS) is a 16-week program with the main goal of improving crosscultural and multidisciplinary teamwork skills of students from different countries. Being one of 12
universities in Europe offering the EPS, the École Nationale d’Ingénieurs de Tarbes offers every
spring a list of different projects.
The main subject of the semester is the project. This has to be done between three and five people
with ideally different studies and nationalities. In the beginning of the semester the project groups
discussed their proposal and finally chose one subject to work on as part of a project for the whole
semester. Every project team is supervised by technical and management supervisors. Through the
project, meetings with the supervisors will help the group to get along with their project and solve
different occurring problems.
In addition, the students had to plan and control the progress of the project with different tools
and strategies that were learned and implemented in the project management lessons of Philippe
Fillatreau. These lessons taught the students how to manage different issues within a project like
time, quality and planning. Using Microsoft Project after practical sessions, the project team was
capable to create a work breakdown structure and a Gantt chart managing the plan for the project
work, which were led by Mrs. Beth Spears-Graux.
