[EN] The development of internal combustion vehicles, particularly automobiles, has been
one of the greatest achievements of the technology. Since its beginnings it has helped
transport, has developed modern society, boosted the economy and is also one of the
main pillars of the world economy, not only for the whole industry behind vehicles, also
because it has become in the daily transport of society.
Just as it has all these positive aspects, it also brings with it the negative aspects. It is
the guilty of a large part of the world's pollution, for example the cars are liable for
around 12% of total EU emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), as affirmed the European
commission. As pollution, the global warming and depletion of oil reserves, are also
major problems, for this reason the European governments have agreed to stop this and
among the regulations introduced has been presented "Europe 2020" by the European
Commission, these regulations can be seen in Attachment A.
Car manufacturers have to cope with this reduction of CO2 emissions, and different
strategies to achieve this goal. The vehicles are getting closer to these figures that are
wanted to be achieved in 2020, thanks to the software, which is assuming an increasing
role in this field The designs are getting better and you can have better control of each
of its parts, therefore you get a lower fuel consumption and lower emissions.
There are several technologies to change the design of vehicles to reduce this, such as
the use of alternative fuels, hybrid vehicle or completely electric vehicle. Alternative

fuels and the electric vehicle are still technologies that are not mature, but the hybrid
vehicle is a technology with a lot of future and there is sufficient technology to make it.
In this work a hybrid vehicle simulation was performed using the BAS system. What we
want to study are the advantages and disadvantages of this mild hybrid system
compared to a vehicle with only an internal combustion engine, through a numerical
methodology with the GT-SUITE program.
Finally, this work consists in the explanation of the most important parts of the
combustion engine, the pollutants of the combustion engine vehicle - which are the
main factor for which alternatives are sought -, the explanation of a hybrid vehicle, the
explanation of how the simulation model was made, and finally the parts of the BAS
system were analyzed, such as Start & Stop, regenerative braking, constant speed
recharge and BAS system support in the propulsion phase.
