DOS DIBUJOS Y TRESCIENTOS AÑOS

Abstract

[EN] This article reveals the first two drawings of the New Tower of Zaragoza, Mudejar building more important of the city, that was demolished in 1892 and that only we can know their images. The first is the view of Wyngaerde 1563, and the second is the engraving of John-Frederick Lewis, 1834. During that period of time, the New Tower suffered severe structural damage that resulted in different alterations in the body from its base and its spire. Only the comparison of the drawings and research papers can afford to know the original state of the building.

[ES] Este artículo da a conocer los dos primeros dibujos de la Torre Nueva de Zaragoza, edificio mudéjar más importante de la ciudad, que fue demolido en 1892 y del que tan sólo podemos conocer sus imágenes. El primero de ellos es la vista de Wyngaerde de 1563, y el segundo es el grabado de John- Frederich Lewis de 1834. Durante ese lapso de tiempo, la Torre Nueva sufrió graves lesiones estructurales que dieron lugar distintas alteraciones en el cuerpo de su base y en su chapitel. Solamente la comparación de esos dibujos y la investigación en los documentos puede permitir conocer el estado original del edificio.
