ESTUDIOS BÁSICOS PARA EL DISEÑO DE UN PLAN DE CONSERVACIÓN DE LAS PINTURAS MURALES DE LA IGLESIA DE SAN BARTOLOMÉ DE ALFARA DEL PATRIARCA, VALENCIA

Abstract

[ES] El presente Trabajo Final de Grado recoge un estudio técnico básico, que documenta la situación en la cual se encuentra actualmente la decoración mural de la Iglesia de San Bartolomé del municipio valenciano de Alfara del Patriarca. De época barroca, construida sobre un solar de un antiguo templo gótico, la iglesia consta de una nave central con un coro elevado, unas capillas laterales, siendo una de ellas de la Eucaristía.

La contextualización, tanto histórica como artística, y los análisis científicos encaminados a localizar las causas del deterioro, concretan el diseño preliminar de un plan de conservación acorde que incluye propuestas de eventuales intervenciones restaurativas.

Las pinturas murales objeto del estudio, decoran la iglesia desde mediados del siglo XX, tras la reforma arquitectónica del presbiterio y están atribuidas al artista Rafael Cardells Camarlench, nacido en Meliana (Valencia).

El programa mural de iconografía religiosa se extiende desde el presbiterio con la Trinidad, el martirio de san Bartolomé y la expulsión de los moriscos, hasta el muro superior del coro con la alegoría de la Fe, pasando por el crucero en el que aparecen los cuatro evangelistas en las pechinas y en el centro la imagen de la Virgen de la Inmaculada Concepción. Por último, un apostolado decora los lunetos de la bóveda.

[EN] The Final Degree Project includes a basic technical study, which documents the situation in which the mural decoration of the Church of San Bartolomé in the Valencian municipality of Alfara del Patriarca is currently located. From the Baroque period, built on a plot of an ancient Gothic temple, the church consists of a central nave with an elevated choir, side chapels, one of them from the Eucharist.

The contextualization, both historical and artistic, and scientific analyses aimed at locating the causes of deterioration, specify the preliminary design of a corresponding conservation plan that includes proposals for eventual restorative interventions.

The mural paintings object of the study, have decorated the church since the mid-20th century, after the architectural reform of the presbytery and are attributed to the artist Rafael Cardells Camarlench, born in Meliana (Valencia).

The mural program of religious iconography extends from the presbytery with the Trinity, the martyrdom of St. Bartholomew and the expulsion of the Moors, to the upper wall of the choir with the allegory of the Faith, passing through the cruise in which the four evangelists in the pendentives and in the center the image of the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception. Finally, an apostolate decorates the lunettes of the vault.
