Turismo solidario - una tendencia emergente

Abstract

[ES] Desde hace décadas, el turismo en los países industrializados ha experimentado un continuo crecimiento donde predomina un modelo turístico masivo y desarrollista que busca el máximo rendimiento económico en el menor tiempo posible. Actualmente, este tipo de turismo convencional provoca un considerable rechazo por su perjudicial impacto en los destinos turísticos. Por lo tanto, cada vez más, se opta se opta por un turismo que se basa en la sostenibilidad económica, social, cultural y ambiental.

Así surge el turismo solidario, que permite disfrutar del país y además colaborar con el desarrollo del destino, proporcionando beneficios tanto a la población receptora como al propio turista. Existen varias clases de viajes solidarios, pero este trabajo se centrará a los viajes de turismo responsable y a los voluntariados internacionales ofrecidos por las agencias de viajes y ONG, respectivamente.

Para entender mejor esta tendencia turística, se analizará el turismo solidario, sus modalidades y sus vías de promoción y, por otra parte, se realizará un análisis crítico sobre la ética, los prejuicios, los estereotipos, la transparencia de las agencias de viajes y ONG, las motivaciones de los turistas y los posibles impactos negativos del turismo solidario.

[EN] For decades, tourism in industrialized countries has experienced continuous growth predominated by a massive and developmental tourism model that looks for maximum economic performance in the shortest possible time. Currently, this type of conventional tourism causes considerable rejection due to its detrimental impact on tourist destinations. Therefore, more and more, tourism based on economic, social, cultural and environmental sustainability is opted.

This is how solidarity tourism springs, that allows you to enjoy the country and also collaborate with the development of the destination, providing benefits to recipient population and the tourists. There are several kinds of solidarity travel, but this work will focus on responsible tourism travel and international volunteering offered by travel agencies and NGOs, respectively.

To better understand this tourism trend, solidarity tourism, its modalities and means of promotion will be analyzed and, moreover a critical analysis on ethics, prejudices, stereotypes, transparency of travel agencies and NGOs , the motivations of tourists and the possible negative impacts of solidarity tourism will be carried out.
