Impacto del turismo de cruceros en la ciudad de Valencia

Abstract

[ES] El turismo de cruceros forma parte del gran abanico de ofertas turísticas que ofrece la provincia de Valencia. Este sector ha experimentado un gran crecimiento desde principios del siglo XXI, debido a la gran inversión que realizaron los puertos españoles para mejorar sus infraestructuras y así convertirse en uno de los principales países en recepción de cruceros a nivel europeo. El puerto de Valencia se ha convertido en un puerto base y de tránsito para gran cantidad de navieras. La cadena de valor que surge a raíz de la industria de cruceros que llega al puerto está compuesta por la oferta que ofrece nuestra provincia (personal y servicios en el destino, transportes, infraestructuras, etc.) y la demanda (cruceristas). En este trabajo se analiza mediante una revisión literaria y una encuesta in situ en el puerto de Valencia, en los barrios de la ciudad y en los destinos que hay excursiones ofertadas en los cruceros. También analizaremos los impactos socioeconómicos de la actividad derivada de los cruceros para desengranar los impactos negativos y positivos que afectan al destino. Por último, nos centraremos en los impactos del COVID-19 en la industria de cruceros.

[EN] Cruise tourism is part of the wide range of tourist offers in the province of Valencia. This sector has experienced a great growth since the beginning of the 21st century, due to the great investment that the Spanish ports made to improve their infrastructures and, in this way, become one of the main countries in reception of cruises at a European level. The port of Valencia has become a base and transit port for a large number of shipping companies. The value chain that emerges from the cruise industry that arrives at the port is made up of the supply offered by our province (personnel and services at the destination, transport, infrastructure, etc.) and the demand (cruise passengers). In this work, it is analyzed through a literature review and an on-site survey in the port of Valencia, in the city's neighborhoods and in the destinations where there are cruise ship excursions on offer. We will also analyze the socioeconomic impacts of the activity derived from the cruises in order to unravel the negative and positive impacts that affect the destination. Finally, we will focus on the impacts of COVID-19 on the cruise industry.
