Prototype design and programming of the Augsburguer 101 mobile tourist information app

Abstract

[ES] Augsburguer 101 es una aplicación móvil de guía turística que lleva al usuario a un recorrido por lugares de interés relacionados con el patrimonio cultural en la ciudad vieja de Augsburgo (Alemania). La aplicación utiliza realidad aumentada para permitir a los visitantes descubrir y explorar los bienes del patrimonio, así como las costumbres culturales de una manera lúdica. Al llegar a un punto de interés, se le pide al usuario que realice un pequeño juego utilizando el móvil como herramienta física para manipular objetos virtuales. En el desarrollo de este proyecto se ha colaborado concretamente en el prototipo y en la programación de la aplicación. El desarrollo del prototipo ha consistido en la realización de un mockup mediante el uso de la aplicación ProtoPie y para el desarrollo de la aplicación se ha utilizado Unity, con especial uso de la librería Vuforia para poder utilizar las herramientas de Realidad Aumentada.

[EN] Augsburger 101 has been conceived as a mobile tour guide app that takes the user on a tour with selected places of interest (POIs) related to cultural heritage across the old city of Augsburg (Germany). The app utilizes augmented reality to allow visitors discovery and exploration of heritage assets as well as cultural customs in a playful way. When arriving at a POI, the user is asked to accomplish a gaming task using the smartphone as a physical tool to manipulate virtual objects. In the development of this project the sutdent have collaborated specifically in the prototype and the programming of the app. The development of the prototype has consisted of making a mockup through the use of ProtoPie app and for the application Unity has been used, with special use of the Vuforia library to be able to use the Augmented Reality tools.
