Abstract

[ES] En una época donde parece que la palabra sostenibilidad se ha banalizado, pero sin embargo Bartleby y el I would prefer not to resuenan cada vez con más fuerza, se pretende entender el concepto del no hacer y sus formas de representarlo. La investigación se acaba concretando en uno de los últimos proyectos no realizados de Cedric Price para el concurso del CCA Design of Cities de Nueva York. En él, se muestran algunos conceptos clave de los que venía hablando el arquitecto a lo largo de su vida, desde el Fun Palace, al Thinkbelt o el Non-Plan; aglutinados todos en la sarcástica idea de no intervenir. De este modo, se pretende analizar el conjunto de los dibujos y los textos con los que Price se presenta al concurso y llega a convertirse en uno de los 5 finalistas. Con ello se intenta verificar que no se trata de una anti-arquitectura o una sátira, sino de una metodología y una forma de intervención de cómo afrontar un proyecto desde tres puntos: lo social, lo económico y lo técnico.

[EN] In an age where it seems that the word sustainability has been trivialized, but nevertheless Bartleby and the I would prefer not to resonate more and more strongly, it is intended to understand the concept of doing nothing and its ways of representing it. The research ends up being one of the last unsuccessful projects by Cedric Price for the CCA Design of Cities competition in New York. In it, some key concepts that the architect has been talking about throughout his life are shown, from the Fun Palace, to the Thinkbelt or the Non-Plan; all united in the sarcastic idea of not intervening. In this way, it is intended to analyze the set of drawings and texts with which Price appears in the competition and becomes one of the 5 finalists. This is to verify that it is not an anti-architecture or a satire, but rather a methodology and a form of intervention on how to approach a project from three points: the social, the economic and the technical.
