Centro híbrido sociocultural en La Torre, Valencia.

Abstract

[ES] El centro sociocultural trata de desarrollar, a modo de complejo, un área dotacional en un punto concreto en el barrio de La Torre, Valencia. Más concretamente en las inmediaciones de la Parroquia Nuestra Señora de Gracia. Con la intención de mejorar la relación de la misma con el Camí Real de Madrid. El encuentro actual entre la trama urbana de la avenida y el templo religioso se resuelve mediante una gran medianera, dando una imagen inacabada de este punto del barrio. La posición de un equipamiento que crezca en altura, en lugar de en planta, podría dar una mejor respuesta dada la relevancia de la ubicación. La superposición de usos en esta pieza, que incluye zonas deportivas, de estudio y talleres, es una idea clave para el entendimiento del edificio, debido a la escasez de superficie en planta. La conexión con la parcela que queda a norte sería abriendo una circulación desde la plaza de la iglesia, mediante un paso a cubierto que funcionase como distribuidor o intercomunicador entre los distintos equipamientos. En la parcela en cuestión se proyectan dos edificios (cafetería y biblioteca), los cuales conforman una nueva plaza. La pieza de cafetería abre con total transparencia, mientras que su correspondiente parte servidora permanece opaca. La biblioteca, que aparece como un prisma alargado, abre tanto a la plaza a norte como a un patio de menor envergadura que queda a sur. Éste, conformado junto con los edificios contiguos, surge de la idea de recomponer la parroquia, creando una especie de claustro de calma y serenidad, el cual puede ser colonizado por los propios usuarios de la biblioteca, funcionando como una extensión exterior de la misma. El último edificio del complejo sociocultural es una pieza de mercado. Éste se asocia a la parte trasera de la parroquia, dejando una separación de cortesía para que el edificio respire de manera transversal. La ubicación de un elemento en la parte posterior del templo se debe a la necesidad de mitigar la ruda fachada trasera de la parroquia. Creando una pieza de mercado más permeable a la calle Álvarez de Sotomayor, cuyo tramo se propone exclusivo para viandantes. Otorgando una total continuidad peatonal en toda la manzana, desde la propia avenida hasta el centro escolar. Además, la propuesta de peatonalización busca un flujo de circulación norte-sur que conecte con el cinturón verde que está actualmente en desarrollo de manera perimetral al barrio.

[EN] The socio-cultural centre aims to develop, in the form of a complex, an endowment area at a specific point in the neighbourhood of La Torre, Valencia. More specifically in the vicinity of the Nuestra Señora de Gracia parish church. With the intention of improving its relationship with the Camí Real de Madrid. The current intersection between the urban fabric of the avenue and the religious temple is resolved by means of a large dividing wall, giving an unfinished image of this point of the neighbourhood. The position of a facility that grows in height, rather than in plan, could provide a better response given the relevance of the location. The superposition of uses in this piece, which includes sport, study and workshop areas, is a key idea for the understanding of the building, due to the scarcity of floor space. The connection with the plot to the north would be by opening a circulation from the church square, by means of a covered passageway that would function as a distributor or intercommunicator between the different facilities. Two buildings (cafeteria and library) are planned for the plot, which form a new square. The cafeteria part opens with total transparency, while its corresponding service part remains opaque. The library, which appears as an elongated prism, opens both to the north square and to a smaller courtyard to the south. This, together with the adjoining buildings, arises from the idea of recomposing the parish, creating a kind of cloister of calm and serenity, which can be colonised by the library users themselves, functioning as an external extension of the library. The last building of the socio-cultural complex is a market hall. This is associated with the back of the parish, leaving a courtesy separation to allow the building breathing transversally. The location of an element at the rear of the church is due to the need to mitigate the rude rear façade of the parish. Creating a more permeable piece of market to the street Álvarez de Sotomayor, whose section is proposed exclusively for pedestrians. Providing total pedestrian continuity throughout the block, from the avenue itself to the school. In addition, the pedestrianisation proposal seeks a north-south traffic flow that connects with the green belt that is currently being developed around the perimeter of the neighbourhood.
