[EN] In the current framework for the development of environmentally friendly alternatives to conventional resources, polylactide (PLA) is an outstanding candidate. PLA is a biobased biodegradable polyester derived from lactic acid. Although most of its properties make it comparable with the most common fossil-based materials, the range of applications of PLA is still limited by some shortcomings as mechanical properties or thermal stability. Due to those limitations, blending PLAs with flexible polymers or/and reinforcing with natural fillers are common approaches to enhance the characteristics of PLAs. In this study, the preparation of nanocomposites based in plasticised PLA was assessed. In this regard, nano-fibrillated cellulose (NFC) was considered as a renewable filler for PLA modification. Moreover, polyethene glycol (PEG) was used as a plasticizer with different molar masses. For this purpose, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), tensile test, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and gel permeation chromatography (GPC) techniques were considered. The contribution of the incorporation of PEG to the PLA along with the effect of the NFC was investigated through morphological, thermal, mechanical and molar mass analyses. The resultant composite properties were correlated with processing methods, plasticiser presence and percentage and dispersion of the reinforcement.
