Distopías en el envés de la arquitectura.

Abstract

[ES] Imaginar el futuro siempre es algo fascinante. Nos hace soñar y viajar a través de la estela de la imaginación, dilucidando que maravillas nos esperan a la vuelta de la esquina. O también, que horrores nos pueden aguardar. Esta visión hacia el porvenir, ha sido una constante en la historia de la humanidad. Al principio de la segunda mitad del s. XX la sociedad se encontraba en un momento de crisis, estaba saliendo de la situación de la postguerra. Algunos arquitectos, impulsados por la situación socio-política del momento, comienzan a plantear arquitecturas que hablan de la sociedad del futuro. Algunos, con reverencia hacia la dirección que está tomando la humanidad, hablan de un futuro idílico donde la humanidad puede vivir en un estado de bien estar estable. Sin embargo, otros no comparten este optimismo y no tienen tan claro que este sea el futuro que nos depara. De esta forma, se comienza a hacer alusión a los conceptos de utopía y distopía dentro del campo de la arquitectura. Estos conceptos que intentan mirar hacia el futuro pueden convertirse en una herramienta muy poderosa a la hora de proyectar nuevas arquitecturas. Esto cobra gran importancia en un momento como el actual, en el que debemos tener en cuenta nuestras decisiones para poder aspirar hacia un futuro próspero. Las ideas de los estudios de Archigram y Superstudio reflejan estos pensamientos, así como sus obras. De esta forma, este tipo de proyectos conceptuales podrían convertirse en la base para la evolución de la arquitectura.

[EN] Thinking about the future is indeed fascinating. It makes us dream and travel through the wake of the imagination, thinking about the beautiful things that destiny brought us, or even which horrors are waiting for us behind the next corner. This vision towards the future is a constant in history. During the second half of the 20th-century, society was in a post-war situation. Some architects imposed by the socioeconomic status stated to imagine and propose the future architecture. Some architects praised the way that the community was taking. They envisioned a better future. Otherwise, few architects disagreed with them and formed their point of view, that it was not the future that holds us. This is how the ideas of utopia and dystopia were implemented in architecture matter. These concepts that tried to look forward can turn into a powerful tool that can be used for designing the new architecture. This is of great importance at a time like today, in which we must take our decisions into account in order to aspire towards a prosperous future. The ideas from the Archigram and Superstudio studios reflect these thoughts, as well as their works. In this way, this type of conceptual projects could become the basis for the evolution of architecture.
