Abstract

[ES] En pleno centro de la ciudad de Valencia, en el barrio de Ruzafa, se encuentra la manzana dibujada por el encuentro de las calles Reina Doña María, Barón de Cortés, Mestre Aguilar y Poeta Al-Russafi. Esta manzana es un espacio de oportunidad para un barrio gentrificado, que ha dado lugar a la privatización del espacio público, la paulatina desaparición de comercios de proximidad, y la pérdida del tejido social y multicultural que caracterizaba al barrio. El gran potencial que supone este espacio permite plantear una intervención que logre poner en valor Ruzafa. A través de la creación de espacio público como equipamientos, viviendas sociales y zonas verdes, es posible conseguir la regeneración urbana y social que el barrio necesita. En este lugar de oportunidad, se pretende también, poner en valor la memoria histórica, respetando las fachadas de las preexistencias, que servirán como premisa para el desarrollo del proyecto. Este proyecto se concibe con una doble funcionalidad. En primer lugar, regenerar la trama social del barrio dando cabida a las distintas generaciones que conviven en el espacio para producir un intercambio cultural. En segundo lugar, restituir la relación del barrio con su patrimonio histórico, reforzando la idea de Ruzafa como barrio de gran importancia cultural para Valencia.

[EN] In the heart of the city of Valencia in Ruzafa the neighborhood is located on the block by the meeting of the streets Reina Doña María, Barón de Cortés, Mestre Aguilar, and Poet Al-Russafi. This block is a space of opportunity for the gentrified neighborhood, that gave place to privatization of public space because the gradual disappearance of local businesses, and the loss of the social and multicultural fabric that characterized the neighborhood. The great potential of this space allows us to propose an intervention that manages to put value in Ruzafa. Through the creation of public space with facilities such as social housing, and green areas it is possible to achieve urban and social regeneration that the neighborhood needs. In this space it is also intended to value the historical memory by respecting the facades of the preexistence which will also serve as a premise for the development of the project. This project is conceived with a dual functionality. The first function is to regenerate the social fabric of the neighborhood by accommodating the current different generations that coexist in this space to produce a cultural exchange. The second function is to restore the neighborhood's relationship with its historical heritage by reinforcing the idea Ruzafa as a neighborhood is of great cultural importance for Valencia.
