Estudio de la tecnología blockchain y sus aplicaciones en la industria turística

Abstract

[ES] El desarrollo de las tecnologías de información y comunicación (TIC) en todas las esferas sociales, incluyendo el turismo, proporciona una herramienta para los consumidores para recibir y generar información como nunca se había visto. En la última década, Internet ha impulsado notablemente el uso de tecnologías en el turismo permitiendo la aplicación de diferentes medios para respaldar todas las fases del proceso de viaje, desde la toma de decisiones previas al viaje hasta el post-trip basado en recuerdos. El uso y aplicación cada vez mayor de estas nuevas tecnologías basadas en internet dan lugar a una nueva generación conectada de turistas inteligentes y el desarrollo de las denominadas Smart Tourism Destinations. Una de estas tecnologías de vanguardia que se ha desarrollado rápidamente en los últimos años es Blockchain. Desde su creación en el año 2008 la tecnología Blockchain ha evolucionado captando la atención de diferentes industrias que lentamente han empezado a implementarla (por ejemplo, cadenas de suministros, industria médica y el turismo entre otros). En este Trabajo de fin de grado se propone analizar el potencial de los usos y aplicaciones de la tecnología Blockchain en la industria turística y los retos que esta nueva tecnología tiene por delante.

[EN] The development of the information and communication technologies (ICT) in all social spheres, including tourism, provides a tool for consumers to receive and generate information as never have seen before. In the last decade, the Internet has notably boosted the use of technologies in tourism, allowing the application of different tools to support all phases of the travel process, from pre-trip decision-making to the memory-based post-trip. The increasing use and application of these new internet-based technologies give rise to a new connected generation of smart tourists and the development of the so-called Smart Tourism Destinations. One of these cutting-edge technologies that has developed rapidly in recent years is Blockchain. Since its creation in 2008, Blockchain technology has evolved, capturing the attention of different industries that have slowly begun to implement it (for example, supply chains, the medical industry, and tourism, among others). In this Thesis project, it is proposed to analyze the potential of the uses and applications of Blockchain technology in the tourism industry and the challenges that this new technology has ahead.
