[ES] La ciudad es el escenario en el que se desenvuelve el drama urbano y este drama es tan complejo que múltiples autores pasan su vida intentando desenmarañarlo a fin de comprenderlo y mostrarlo al mundo.
Dos de esas figuras son Jane Jacobs y Lewis Mumford, que dedicaron su vida a tal cuestión con intención de que los encargados de darle forma a la ciudad abordaran adecuadamente las cuestiones referentes a qué es y cómo se vive la ciudad. Presentando ambos especial animadversión por las tendencias del urbanismo moderno de su tiempo que parecía no prestar atención a tales cuestiones agravando los problemas que las ciudades sufren.
El presente trabajo pretende explorar sus opiniones a través de un recorrido centrado en Nueva York, la ciudad en la que residieron y que más abordan en su obra escrita, y en diversos casos de estudio relevantes que ejemplifican sus teorías tanto afines como discordantes, con el fin identificar los problemas del pasado para no repetirlos en el futuro.

[EN] The city is the stage in which the urban drama unfolds and this drama is so complex that multiple authors spend their lives trying to unravel it in order to understand it and show it to the world.
Two of these figures are Jane Jacobs and Lewis Mumford, who dedicated their lives to such a question with the intention that those in charge of shaping the city adequately address the questions regarding what the city is and how it is lived. Presenting both special animosity for the trends of modern urbanism of their time that seemed not to pay attention to such issues, aggravating the problems that cities suffer.
The present work intends to explore their opinions through a tour focused on New York, the city in which they lived and which they address the most in their written work, and in various relevant case studies that exemplify their theories, both similar and discordant, with the aim of in order to identify the problems of the past so as not to repeat them in the future.
