Diseño y despliegue de una red FTTH en Xirivella

Abstract

[ES] Este Trabajo de Fin de Grado, en adelante TFG, se centra en la tecnología de Telecomunicaciones FTTH (Fiber To The Home) comúnmente conocida como Fibra Hasta el Hogar y tiene como objetivo principal mostrar de manera detallada el proceso de diseño y despliegue de una red FTTH en la localidad de Xirivella, provincia de Valencia, donde actualmente el servicio de comunicaciones electrónicas se está¿ dispensando por cable de cobre tradicional.

La implantación de redes FTTH, que en España está en su punto álgido, se basa principalmente en el despliegue de fibra óptica desde la central hasta el hogar del usuario final, por lo que todo el recorrido de la red de acceso se realiza con fibra óptica.

La fibra óptica es un medio para transmitir señales en formas de ondas de luz y, actualmente, es el medio que ofrece mejores prestaciones en cuanto a velocidad y distancia de transmisión, lo que permite prestar servicios de voz, datos y vídeo que exigen un gran ancho de banda. Además, su fabricación ha mejorado considerablemente en los últimos tiempos y tiende a fabricarse a costes reducidos.

Entre los estándares activos en la actualidad, el estándar GPON es la solución óptima para un despliegue de una red FTTH, permitiendo, en sus últimas versiones, velocidades de hasta 10 Gbps y distancias de 60Km. Por todo esto, la tecnología FTTH ha llegado a ser tan importante, convirtiendo a otras tecnologías, punteras en su momento, en obsoletas y caducas.

[EN] This Final Degree Project, hereinafter TFG, focuses on FTTH (Fiber To The Home) Telecommunications technology commonly known as Fiber to the Home and its main objective is to show in detail the process of designing and deploying a network. FTTH in the town of Xirivella, province of Valencia, where the electronic communications service is currently being provided by traditional copper cable.

The implementation of FTTH networks, which in Spain is at its peak, is mainly based on the deployment of fiber optics from the plant to the end user's home, so that the entire access network route is carried out with fiber optics.

Fiber optics is a medium for transmitting signals in the form of light waves and, currently, it is the medium that offers the best performance in terms of transmission speed and distance, which makes it possible to provide voice, data and video services that require a great deal of bandwidth. In addition, its manufacture has improved considerably in recent times and tends to be manufactured at reduced costs.

Among the currently active standards, the GPON standard is the optimal solution for deploying a FTTH network, allowing, in its latest versions, speeds of up to 10 Gbps and distances of 460Km. For all this, FTTH technology has become so important, making other technologies, cutting-edge at the time, obsolete and outdated.
