Tarot de MetztliI. Mitología sobre grabado

Abstract

[ES] Uno de mis motivos principales de este trabajo es fomentar el conocimiento de la historia prehispánica mediante la xilografía. Para esto utilizar las barajas del tarot como apoyo al momento de compartir el significado de las mismas. En una lucha constante conmigo misma y con mi alrededor en el que he crecido, uno de los casos que más he podido presenciar es el racismo y clasismo que existe en mi país, México. Con este trabajo quiero dar a conocer nuestras raíces, ya no solo en la población latinoamericana, sino exteriormente por medio de algo llamativo como puede ser este caso, el tarot y su reinterpretación, para dar así un salto más allá de lo que se enseña en escuelas. El grabado además, es un medio que se utilizó en México en el siglo XIX como forma de denuncia de las condiciones sociales que dejó la revolución, en el que brillaron grandes artistas como Casimiro Castro y José Guadalupe Posada. A día de hoy, estos grabados son grandes referentes de muchos artistas y movimientos sociales. Con estos dos materiales, el tarot y la xilografía, más una línea de información que será la mitología prehispánica, quiero crear una fuente de conocimiento atractiva a públicos que gustan de la cartomancia, grabado e incluso a los que desconocen ambas.

[EN] One of my main reasons for this work is to promote knowledge of pre-Hispanic history through xylography. For this, using the tarot decks as support when sharing their meaning. In a constant struggle with myself and with my surroundings in which I have grown up, one of the cases that I have been able to witness the most is the racism and classism that exists in my country, Mexico. With this work I want to make our roots known, not only in the Latin American population, but externally through something striking such as this case, the tarot and its reinterpretation, in order to take a leap beyond what is taught in schools. Furthermore, engraving is a medium that was used in Mexico in the 19th century as a way of denouncing the social conditions left behind by the revolution, in which great artists such as Casimiro Castro and José Guadalupe Posada shone. To this day, these engravings are great references for many artists and social movements. With these two materials, the tarot and the xylography, plus a line of information that will be pre-Hispanic mythology, I want to create an attractive source of knowledge for audiences who like cartomancy, engraving and even those who are unaware of both.
