[EN] This study investigates the implementation of energy-efficient buildings as a crucial strategy to combat climate change. Specifically, it focuses on comparing two high-energy performance houses located in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, and Zurich, Switzerland, to understand the design and construction strategies for reducing energy use in different climatic conditions. The study utilizes energy simulation software and analyses base cases and parametric variations to evaluate building performance. The results demonstrate the feasibility of achieving optimal thermal comfort and energy efficiency in both locations through the application of passive design principles. The simulations reveal that the base case models maintain consistent and acceptable operative temperatures throughout the year. Key factors such as insulation, window shading, and night ventilation play significant roles in enhancing energy efficiency and ensuring comfortable indoor environments. The findings of this study provide valuable insights for creating sustainable and energy-efficient structures that mitigate the consequences of climate change.
