Rethinking the urban landscape for socials housing. Case study in the Orba neighborhood in Alfafar, Valencia (Spain)

Abstract

[ES] El paisaje urbano para la vivienda social es uno de los problemas que existen ahora en la mayoría de los países desarrollados, y un problema futuro para los países en proceso de crecimiento económico y demográfico. Los estados de estos paisajes son resultado de diferentes factores, entre ellos el rápido crecimiento poblacional de las ciudades, y los bajos precios de las viviendas, y también depende del contexto del lugar y la época; esto ha incidido en la carencia y el estado de los paisajes urbanos en estos lugares. Este artículo estudia el concepto de paisaje urbano en la vivienda social, sus orígenes, causas y efectos; tomando como caso de estudio el barrio de Orba del Ayuntamiento de Alfafar en Valencia. Esta intervención paisajística para este barrio se basará en el estudio de otras actuaciones similares, así como otros proyectos paisajísticos para conseguir alguna recomendación a aplicar al master plan del barrio de Orba para satisfacer las necesidades de la población de esta zona y teniendo también en cuenta las presupuesto del ayuntamiento, para crear espacios verdes de calidad que respeten la identidad del territorio, la cultura, la cohesión y la diversidad, con un enfoque interdisciplinar y el respeto y equilibrio entre lo urbano, lo natural y lo económico.

[EN] The urban landscape for social housing is one of the problems that exist now in most developed countries, and a future problem for countries in the process of economic and demographic growth. The states of these landscapes are the result of different factors, among them the fast population growth of the cities, and the low prices of houses, and it also depends on the context of the place and the time; this has affected the lack and the state of the urban landscapes in these places. This paper studies the concept of the urban landscape in social housing, its origins, causes and effects; taking as a case study the neighborhood of Orba in the Town Hall of Alfafar in Valencia. This landscaping intervention for this neighborhood will be based on the study of other similar actions, likewise other landscape projects to get some recommendation to apply to the master plan of the Orba neighborhood to satisfy the needs of the population of this area and also taking into account the budget of the city council, to create green spaces of quality that respect the identity of the territory, culture, cohesion and diversity, with an interdisciplinary approach and respect and balance between the urban, the natural and the economic.
