Challenges in importing spanish products into Finland Case: Coffee liqueur from Alcoy

Abstract

[ES] El objetivo de la investigación es explorar las oportunidades de internacionalización de una bebida típica de Alcoy que es el café licor, en Finlandia. El estudio se centraría en realizar un diagnóstico inicial de la situación actual de las exportaciones de este producto en el contexto internacional, así como detectar el potencial de exportación hacia Finlandia teniendo en cuenta aspectos culturales, regulatorios y de mercado. El marco teórico, se centrará en tres aspectos principales. En primer lugar, se analizará la situación inicial de la empresa. Tras una breve descripción de su historia, de sus orígenes y los productos que ofrece, se pasará a analizar sus puntos fuertes y como explotarlos al máximo. Para ello haré uso de la metodología FODA, además del PESTEL para analizar el entorno externo que afecta tanto directa como indirectamente a la empresa. En segundo lugar, usaré el Modelo del Diamante de Porter con el objetivo de conocer los factores determinantes a la hora de internacionalizar la empresa y aprovechar las ventajas que ofrece el mercado finés. Por último, se explicarán los diferentes métodos para entrar en un mercado y se determinará la mejor opción para entrar al Mercado. En la parte empírica incluiré tanto métodos cuantitativos como cualitativos. Por una parte, realizaré una investigación documental para comprender la historia y regulaciones de la bebida, además de investigaciones culturales para adaptar el producto al mercado finlandés. Posteriormente para apoyarme en esta base teórica, haré uso de encuestas para conocer realmente las necesidades de la demanda. El significado de este estudio radica en la promoción de la cultura local, el desarrollo de estrategias de exportación efectivas, el fortalecimiento de las relaciones comerciales, la alineación del producto con las preferencias del consumidor finlandés y la contribución al desarrollo económico local.

[EN] The aim of the research is to explore the opportunities for the internationalisation of a typical drink from Alcoy, liqueur of coffee, in Finland. The study will focus on making an initial diagnosis of the current export situation of this product in the international context, as well as detecting the export potential to Finland, taking into account cultural, regulatory and market aspects. The theoretical framework will focus on three main aspects. First, the initial situation of the company will be analysed. After a brief description of its history, its origins, and the products it offers, I will go on to analyse its strengths and how to exploit them to the maximum. To do this I will use the SWOT methodology, as well as PESTLE to analyse the external environment that affects the company both directly and indirectly. Secondly, I will use Porter's Diamond Model with the aim of finding out the determining factors when internationalising the company and exploiting the advantages offered by the Finnish market. Finally, the different methods to enter a market will be explained and the best option to enter the market will be determined. In the empirical part I will include both quantitative and qualitative methods. On the one hand, I will conduct documentary research to understand the history and regulations of the drink, as well as cultural research to adapt the product to the Finnish market. Then, to build on this theoretical basis, I will make use of surveys to really understand the needs of the demand. The significance of this study lies in promoting local culture, developing effective export strategies, strengthening trade relations, aligning the product with Finnish consumer preferences, and contributing to local economic development.
