Embarcadero. Recuerdos de una ruta minera.

Abstract

[ES] Águilas, un municipio situado en la costa sur de la Región de Murcia, ha sido históricamente un importante núcleo en el desarrollo ferroviario de la región. Durante el siglo XIX y gran parte del XX, el ferrocarril jugó un papel clave en el transporte de minerales desde las zonas mineras del interior hasta el puerto de Águilas, impulsando la economía local y conectando el municipio con otras regiones. Los antiguos talleres ferroviarios fueron un símbolo de la pujanza industrial de la localidad, pero con el paso del tiempo, han quedado obsoletos.El presente proyecto tiene como objetivo revitalizar estos antiguos talleres ferroviarios, transformándolos en un complejo innovador de usos mixtos que combine cultura, tecnología y desarrollo económico. La intervención incluirá la restauración de las infraestructuras originales y su adaptación a las nuevas necesidades del municipio, mediante la implementación de tecnologías avanzadas, como la automatización y la producción de energías renovables.

[EN] Águilas, a municipality located on the southern coast of the Region of Murcia, has historically been an important hub in the railway development of the region. During the 19th century and much of the 20th, the railway played a key role in transporting minerals from inland mining areas to the port of Águilas, boosting the local economy and connecting the town with other regions. The old railway workshops were a symbol of the town s industrial strength, but over time, they have become obsolete.The current project aims to revitalize these former railway workshops by transforming them into an innovative mixed-use complex that combines culture, technology, and economic development. The intervention will include the restoration of the original infrastructures and their adaptation to the new needs of the municipality, through the implementation of advanced technologies, such as automation and the production of renewable energy.
