[EN] The present work concerns the magnetic convection of a paramagnetic fluid in a horizontal annulli heated from the inner wall and cooled from the outer wall. This system was simulated, using CFD software, to be under the effect of a superconducting magnet. The convection was investigated under several strengths of the magnetic induction at three different positions with respect to the center of the solenoid to see the effect. A new correlation of Nusselt-Grashof dimensionless numbers was obtained and analyzed. In general, the results show good agreement with previous studies. An introduction to convection and its applications is presented. In addition, a more specific approach on thermomagnetic convection, which is the case studied, is also investigated. Furthermore, a research on boundary layers and its mechanism is done. The importance of the boundary layer, as well as the different types and their mechanism of propagation are discussed in the report. With all this information it is possible to analyze the results obtained from the numerical analysis and conclude that magnetization is able to affect heat transfer, enhancing, suppressing or even inverting the convective flow. When enhanced, it is possible to observe that the boundary layer thins which is a key parameterfor stronger circulation.
