La correlación de unidades estratigráficas en estructuras pictóricas

Abstract

La correlacion entre dos unidades consiste en considerar que un deposito puede ser el mismo que otro. Al identificar estratos no originales y sus relaciones, se pueden obtener datos con los que trabajar. De este modo, la estratificacion se puede interpretar, y darle un significado, al asignar funciones o al establecer la correlacion, o la agrupacion en fases de las unidades. El objetivo final es obtener, a partir de datos materiales aislados, informacion acerca de los contextos que han ejercido una influencia sobre la obra y han condicionado su evolucion. Una de las más importantes consecuencias de esta aproximacion es que la limpieza es definida como una forma de recuperar y preservar informacion y no solamente como un proceso estetico.

Correlation between two units consists in considering one deposit to be the same as another. In identifying non-original layers and their relationships we can obtain data with which to work. In this way, assigning functions and correlating or phasing the units or, in general, grouping them, we can interpret and give meaning to the stratification studied. The final aim is to be able to go from pure, isolated material data to more far-reaching information related to the contexts which have exerted an influence on a work and thus conditioned its evolution. One of the most important consequences of this focus is that cleaning is defined as a way of recovering and preserving information and not just as a merely aesthetic process.
