La importancia del Matte Painting: sugestión estética

Abstract

El proyecto ¿La importancia del Matte Painting: sugestión estética¿ es una investigación y un estudio sobre el papel que desempeñan los Matte Paintings dentro del mundo cinematográfico. Ésta técnica consiste en la recreación de espacios virtuales que puedan condicionar la imagen mostrada al espectador, sugestionando a su vez la idea que concibe el público sobre eso que visualiza. Para mostrar la importancia del Matte Painting se realiza un análisis del origen de éstas máscaras y su desarrollo a lo largo de la historia del cine, tomando como referentes los ejemplos cinematográficos más destacados en la incorporación de dicha técnica y los artistas más valorados en el ámbito profesional de la creación de las máscaras, desde algunos pioneros como los artistas más actuales. Como ejemplo práctico de la técnica se realizan una serie de Matte Painting, trabajados en base a una única acción rodada por un personaje, y que muestren diferentes estéticas entre sí, para así corroborar la sugestión que producen el empleo de según qué tipo de máscaras y como éstas modifican el contexto de la pieza cinematográfica.

The Project ¿The relevance of the Matte Painting: aesthetic suggestion¿ is a research work about the role that the Matte Painting play in the world of cinematography. This technique consists of the recreation of spaces in the virtual world that are able to condition the perception of the image shown to the audience, influencing at the same time on the idea that the audience conceive about what they visualise. In order to show the importance of the Matte Painting, it has been carried out an analysis of the origin of these masks and its development throughout the history of the movies, taking as models the most world-renowned cinematographic examples in the inclusion of the mentioned technique and the most outstanding artists in the professional field of the creation of masks, from some pioneers to the most current artists. As a practical example of this technique a series of Matte Painting are realised, developed on the basis of a unique action recorded by a character, and that shows different aesthetics between them, in order to corroborate the influence that produce the use of depending on what type of masks and how they modify the context of the cinematographic piece
