Measurements with cylinders

Abstract

Scattering of sound from cylinders of various materials and lengths is an important issue, although it has been investigated for decades,some measurements has discovered that some modes of propagation hasn't been described in the literature. In this study experiments will be performed in a laboratory tank on various cylinders. The measured backscattered echoes will be recorded while varying the incidence angle and carrier frequency. The results will be analysed in terms of disperion diagrams of the vibrational modes in the cylinder, and will be interpred by comparison with numerical simulations. This work is separated in different parts, the first one we do a description of the equipment, after we have a explanation of the treatment of the datas,the third part we have some information about the theory of the scattering cylinders, and on the final part we can see the results of the measurements and we do a analyze of the datas. In the last pages also we include all the programs for do a measurement.
