Estudio ambiental de las zonas verdes municipales de Arona (Zona Sur del Paseo Marítimo Playa las Vistas)

Abstract

Siendo el municipio de Arona uno de los más turísticos del sur de la isla de Tenerife, posee algunos de los jardines públicos más extravagantes en cuanto a especies y formas. Resultado de un desarrollo urbanístico vertiginoso, estos jardines se han diseñado con especies alóctonas, que no dan ningún tipo de particularidad al lugar. Se optó por un prototipo de espacios verdes insostenibles donde la necesidad de los recursos hídricos no corresponden con el entorno seco del lugar. Los costes de mantenimiento son elevados debido al tipo de vegetación escogida.

Este proyecto se enfoca en varios jardines ubicados en el paseo marítimo de la principal zona turística del municipio. Un nuevo diseño en los mismos, orientado en la utilización de materiales volcánicos y especies vegetales autóctonas, disminuye estos costes ya que estas plantas se caracterizan por sus escasas necesidades hídricas. Son las especies vegetales potenciales de la zona por lo que utilizándolas, también se resuelve la carencia de identidad.

El cambio de un tipo de jardín a otro, tiene un coste elevado debido al trabajo del personal, maquinaria y materiales necesarios. Esta notable suma se amortiza con el tiempo, ya que los costes de mantenimiento del nuevo diseño son prácticamente nulos.

Arona it´s one of the most touristic places in the south of the island of Tenerife, and has some of the most extravagant public gardens in terms of species and strange forms. Result of a rapid urban development, these gardens were designed with non-native species, which don´t give any particularity to the place. The green spaces gardens prototype that were choosen don´t suit the dry environment of the area.

The actual maintenance costs are extremly high, due to the type of the wrongly chosen vegetation and the extensive areas of lawn.

This project focuses on some gardens located on the seafront of the main tourist area of the municipality. A new design on them, oriented to the use of volcanic materials and native plant species, will reduce these costs because these plants are characterized by their low water needs. These species represent the potential vegetation of the place, there fore by using them, the lack of identity is solved.

The change from one type of garden to another type, like any job, has an involve high cost due to the labor, equipment and materials. But over time, this remarkable cost will be amortized because the maintenance costs of the new design are practically null.
