La conservación de la escultura metálica contemporánea

Abstract

[EN] The following research work is focused on the study of the preventive preservation of the contemporary scuptoric works. In the first part a short historical introduction about the use of metal in art has been executed. Following this introduction, the main subject of the study will be the materials used in the contemporary sculpture, revising the features of the most used metals and their execution techniques. The second part of the essay is devoted to the preventive preservation of this sort of works and the role the artist has acquired along the time regarding the conservation and restoration of the pieces. Finally, the results of a survey realized to national and international museums will be analyzed. The aim of the survery is to find out how the museums perform regarding the preventive preservation of the sculptoric works and their available means in order to fulfilll their main point

[ES] El presente trabajo de investigación se centra en el estudio de la conservación preventiva de las obras escultóricas metálicas contemporáneas. En la primera parte se realiza una breve introducción histórica sobre la utilización del metal en el arte. A continuación el estudio se centrará en los materiales más utilizados en la escultura contemporánea, ejecutando una revisión de las características de los metales más empleados y de sus técnicas de ejecución. La segunda parte del trabajo se centra en la conservación preventiva de este tipo de obras y en el papel que el artista ha ido adquiriendo con el tiempo ante la conservación-restauración de sus obras. En la tercera parte se describen los resultados obtenidos en el cuestionario realizado a distintos museos tanto nacionales como internacionales en cuanto a la conservación preventiva en obra escultórica metálica. Además, se realizará una encuesta a los museos para saber en qué condiciones se mueven para llegar a su fin.
