Developement of a splitter plate-sensor for a plane parallel injector

Abstract

Considering that there is only limited practical experience and data on the use of Methane and Oxygen, it is important to better understand the influences on the combustion process of this propellant combination and its efficiency. As well know the mixing layer and flame stability have a high effect on the combustion efficiency and it is very sensitive to small changes in initial and operating conditions, such as velocity ratio, turbulence intensity, splitter plate in case of a plane-parallel flow, pressure, etc. Therefore this project aims to develop a splitter plate for a plane-parallel injector, which not only separates the oxidizer from fuel but also measure pressure and temperature at certain points of interest. This splitter plate will be used in the future to study mixing layer development and flame stability using Methane and Oxygen as propellant pair.
