La creación del gran monstruo de Oriente Medio: análisis del tratamiento mediático del conflicto palestino por parte de Televisión Española (1956-1994)

Abstract

Recorrido analítico e histórico del tratamiento mediático por parte de Televisión Española del conflicto palestino desde el comienzo de la segunda guerra árabe israelí en 1956 hasta la masacre de palestinos en la tumba de los patriarcas de Hebrón en 1994. A través de cinco puntos clave en el desarrollo del conflicto se aporta la visión que gradualmente se fue construyendo en España del mundo árabe y especialmente de este hecho histórico. Los puntos que se han concretado son: La segunda guerra árabe israelí y la nacionalización del canal de Suez (1956) ­ Anexión de Jerusalem a Israel (1967) ­ Tercera iniciativa del plan Rogers tras el septiembre negro (1971) ­ Estallido de la Intifada (1987) ­ Masacre de Palestinos en la tumba de los patriarcas de Hebrón (1994). De este modo se analiza el tratamiento dado a estos hechos por parte de Televisión Española en un abanico de años que parte desde el año 1956, durante el franquismo, con el NO­DO hasta los primeros años de democracia tras la transición. Este análisis está enfocado a defender la hipótesis de cómo en España la línea de tratamiento del conflicto no cambió con la libertad de prensa.

Analytical and historical review of media treatment provided by Televisión Española of the Palestinian conflict since the beginning of the second Arab­Israeli war in 1956 to the Patriarchs massacre in the city of Hebron in 1994. Through five key points in the course of the conflict, it will be provided the vision that gradually was built in Spain of the Arab world and especially of this historical fact. The points that have been chosen are: The second Arab­Israeli war and the nationalization of the Suez Canal (1956) ­ Annexation of Jerusalem to Israel (1967) ­ Third initiative of the Rogers plan after the black September (1971) ­ the first Intifada (1987) ­ the massacre of Palestinians at the tomb of the patriarchs in Hebron (1994).Therefore, the treatment given to these facts by Televisión Española will be analyzed in a range of years that starts from the last stage of the dictatorship in Spain with the NO­DO until the early years of democracy after the transition. This analysis is focused on defending the hypothesis of how in Spain the treatment line of the conflict and its communication did not change with press freedom.
