Abstract

[EN] The author expounds on the subject of the sometimes diffuse limits between replica and restoration by referring to parallel examples from the world of art, technology, cinema, furni-ture, applied arts, etc., subsequently returning to the world of architecture and evaluating the concept of authenticity and the ethical limits of replicas from first principles. A particularly re-vealing approach in this issue is the introduction of the concepts of scale and the final aim of the intervention leading to a clear resolution of any doubts arising. The text is of great interest given its detailed analysis of actions usually linked to the field of restoration and executed intuitively, for better or worse, without prior evaluation of their underlying cause and meaning

[ES] El autor ahonda en la cuestión de los límites a veces borrosos entre la réplica y la restauración recurriendo a ejemplos paralelos en el mundo de la pintura, la técnica, la cinematografía, el mobiliario, las artes aplicadas, etc., para retornar al mundo de la arquitectura y plantearse desde cero el concepto de autenticidad y los límites éticos de la réplica. En esta disyuntiva, resulta especialmente reveladora la introducción de los conceptos de la escala y el objetivo final de la intervención, hasta el punto de resolver las dudas planteadas con claridad de juicio. El texto posee un enorme interés por su capacidad de analizar en detalle acciones habituales ligadas a la disciplina de la restauración que se realizan de forma intuitiva, para bien o para mal, sin sopesar previamente la razón y el sentido subyacente a las mismas.
