CERÁMICA, FORMAS UTILITARIAS RECONVERTIDAS EN ARTE EXPANDIDO MEDIANTE EL UPCYCLING: DESGUSTACIÓN EMPLATADA

Abstract

[EN] I expose in this memory my Final degree project with practical nature. The project consists in the formation of new objects or scultures with the rests of broken silverware or waste, in this case we will focus on obsolete ceramic plates as the main material for our artwork. Therefore, during the project, we will research and develop the concepts of construction and deconstruction. As an introduction we are going to talk about a Japanes e art called Kintsugi, which has been one of the main references during the project, the philosophy of this art and the captivating beauty of its artworks. This Project follows the idea of giving a second life to products that are already obsolete or produ cts that cannot be useful anymore. In order to take something broken or old and make it obtains another value, another structure, another opportunity to be beauty again. We will play with chance and broken pieces as if it was a puzzle, trying to assemble t hem giving a new plastic sense. In order to develop this project, it was necessary to explain the importance of the pottery in our lifes, as well as the history of this material. And also it was necessary a research about the tendencies of recycling object s to give them other uses, like the Upcycling. It is also essential to speak about the importance of the Trencadis, which has been a big influence in this artwork. For all this research it has been necessary to check all the bibliography presented in the e nd of the document, in order to support the treated topics. Finally, I must say that the given name to my project “Degustación emplatada” is a reference to the way I serve my scultures on flat surfaces asking the viewers to taste them visually.

[En esta memoria expongo mi trabajo final de grado de carácter práctico. El proyecto consiste en la producción de esculturas con los restos de vajillas cotidianas rotas o de desecho. E n este caso nos decantaremos por la utilización de platos de cerámica en desuso como material principal de las obras. Por lo tanto investigaremos y desarrollaremos en la memoria los conceptos de construcción y deconstrucción. Como precedente explicaremos el arte japonés llamado Kintsugi, el cual ha sido un o de los p rincipales referentes para el desarrollo de la idea , el pensamiento de este arte y la belleza cautivadora de sus obras. Esta producción se rige por la idea de dar una segunda vida a productos que se han quedado obsoletos o que ya no ofrecen su función habi tual . Revalorizar lo viejo y en desuso con el fin de que obtenga otro valor, otra estructura, otra oportunidad de ser algo bello. Jugaremos con el azar, con las piezas rotas a modo de puzle o rompecabezas intentado ensamblarlas con un sentido plástico . Para desarrollar este proyecto ha sido necesario explicar la importancia de la cerámica en nuestras vidas y brevemente la hist oria de dicho material utilizado en estas esculturas . I nvestiga remos sobre las tendencias que hablan de reciclar objetos dándole o tras utilidades como es el caso del Upcycling. También cabe nombrar el Trencadís, el cual ha sido muy influyente en la obra. Para todo esto ha sido necesaria la continua consulta a la bibliografía para respaldar todos los temas tratados. Por ultimo cabe d ecir que la elección del título “Degustación Emplatada” hace referencia a que mis esculturas van apoyadas en formas aplanadas como si fueran servidas en platos para ser degustadas visualmente por el espectador.
