[EN] In this article I present a small part of my doctoral research that is in the final phase of writing. Throughout the thesis I attended some workshops where I was interested in collecting narratives of the participants, in their experiences in looking at the other, which are in distant locations, by their own, such as vulnerability. Parallel to that, as I was writing the thesis, I was collecting some scenes to think this issue of the perception of otherness from visual experiences of our daily lives. Here then I will dedicate to think two of these scenes featuring the picture of our recent visual culture. The first happens in Brazil and the other one in France, with worldwide impact. They are about: the biased attacks on the Northeastern of Brazil right after the last presidential elections, and the terrorist attacks in France to the host of the satirical Charlie Hebdo wages. Reflecting on these events I pass through the two central issues that have been the theme of the thesis: what happens and what happens to us when we are confronted with images of the other, when it is in situations distant of ours? And then, in what ways we can disturb our gaze beyond the naive subjectivity and symbolic devices uniqueness and remoteness? Despite the difficulties in analyzing so dramatic events, it seems necessary to look more closely at certain scenes, certain images, to keep looking for the ways we relate to these other beyond our positions often very naive and even prejudiced ways.
