Análisis de la narrativa audiovisual en la serie The Leftovers

Abstract

The present research work is intended to take a dive into the study of the narrative complexity of the HBO¿s tv show: The Leftovers. In order to do that, the contextual aspects of the fiction, both the own history of the show (book that adapts to script) and the previous works of the director, will be explored firstly to understand the techniques and methods that are used in the show for the spectator to feel the same experiences and emotions as the complex characters of the screenplay. We will also put in context the HBO producer and how it has been evolving and investing in the new serial generation. After attending to the task of contextualizing, the study will be developed by doing a review and analysis after the viewing of the three seasons, listing their different frames and subplots and their curious narrative structure, in which each episode results exclusive. The different episodes will also be analyzed according to each director. Finally, we will direct the final part of the study to the personal conclusions after the intensive investigation of the TV show.

El presente trabajo de investigación está destinado a hacer una inmersión en el estudio de la complejidad narrativa de la serie de HBO The Leftovers. Para ello, se desgranarán primeramente aquellos aspectos contextuales de dicha ficción, tanto los antecedentes propios de la serie (libro que se adapta a guión) como los trabajos anteriores del director, para así comprender las técnicas y métodos que se utilizan en la serie para que el espectador experimente las mismas emociones que los complejos personajes de la obra. También pondremos en contexto la productora HBO y cómo ha estado evolucionando e invirtiendo en la nueva generación serial. Después de atender a la tarea de contextualizar, el estudio pasará a desarrollarse haciendo una revisión y análisis tras el visionado de las tres temporadas que conforman la serie, enumerando así sus distintas tramas y subtramas y su curiosa estructura narrativa, en la que cada episodio resulta único. También se enumerarán los distintos episodios según cada director. Finalmente, encaminaremos la parte final del estudio a las conclusiones personales tras la intensiva investigación de la serie.
